[Bug 1896102] Re: gnome-shell crashes together with emacs-gtk regularly
Thanks, but emacs crashing is a different issue to gnome-shell crashing. We can keep this bug open about any gnome-shell crashes but please follow the steps in comment #2 again for that. ** Summary changed: - gnome-shell crashes together with emacs-gtk regularly + gnome-shell crashes ** Description changed: Regularly emacs-gtk crashes (reported separately in LP: #1896100) and with it gnome-shell crashes as well. Since those two crashes happen at the same time I am assuming that those two events are related. I don't know what the causal relation is though. [Bug 1862559] Re: ubuntu 19.10: unresponsive/freezes on ThunderX2 if system is idle for ~22min
I asked our desktop team about this, and Iain Lane mentioned that Ubuntu overrides the GNOME default of auto-suspending, but that override only takes effect if you have the ubuntu-settings package installed. I tested this out on a Saber system, and I can confirm that it does seem to only happen when gdm is installed/running and ubuntu-settings is *not* installed. And that explains why I was unable to reproduce in Comment #5. There I had installed ubuntu-desktop which would bring in ubuntu- settings. It also explains why the CUDA-11 dependency chain *did* cause the problem on the x86 server in Comment #8. In that case, gdm3 is getting installed as a Recommends somewhere in the dependency chain - but it does not pull in gnome-settings. I'll therefore go ahead and close the 'linux' task as Invalid - this isn't a kernel bug. I'll mark the gdm3 bug as "Won't Fix" because, in theory, we could change the defaults inside of gdm3 itself - but we instead recommend users install ubuntu-settings to override the defaults. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Invalid ** Changed in: gdm3 (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Won't Fix -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm3 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1862559 Title: ubuntu 19.10: unresponsive/freezes on ThunderX2 if system is idle for ~22min To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm3/+bug/1862559/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1896475] [NEW] [FFe] Migrate to pipewire-0.3
Public bug reported: Various packages are now depending on pipewire-0.3 (or, in some cases pipewire-0.2). While this is not a main component for ubuntu (yet) we have various projects depending on it, and some core components (actually mutter) have a build-only-dependency on it. Debian already completed this migration some weeks ago, while ubuntu doesn't provide pipewire-0.3 yet and this can be blocking many components to land in next cycle. As per this, we thought that was wiser to anticipate the migration now so that all the dependencies will be already in ubuntu at the beginning of the next cycle, and we could start earlier the actual usage of pipewire in the desktop for mutter (and other components such as the xdg-portals). All the packages have been prepared already in: https://launchpad.net/~ci-train-ppa-service/+archive/ubuntu/4265.1/+packages You can refer to the diffs in https://bileto.ubuntu.com/#/ticket/4265 to see the details of the changes. ** Affects: gnome-remote-desktop (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: krfb (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: mutter (Ubuntu) Importance: Medium Assignee: Marco Trevisan (Treviño) (3v1n0) Status: New ** Affects: pipewire (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: weston (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: xdg-desktop-portal (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: xdg-desktop-portal-gtk (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: xdg-desktop-portal-kde (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: gnome-remote-desktop (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: krfb (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: pipewire (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: weston (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: xdg-desktop-portal (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: xdg-desktop-portal-gtk (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: xdg-desktop-portal-kde (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to mutter in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1896475 Title: [FFe] Migrate to pipewire-0.3 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-remote-desktop/+bug/1896475/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1896471] [NEW] trash no longer works after deleting files from usb device
Public bug reported: I have deleted files on a SD card. After I did that Ubuntu could not open the trash folders. At that time I did not realize that the deleting was the cause of my problems.
