Public bug reported: Affected version ubuntu1804.4/20.04 Bug summary Click Lock menu (especially click lock button very soon after login), the screen is locked as expected. But in this case, there is no org.gnome.ScreenSaver related dbus generated, and less way to report screen is locked. Using dbus-monitor also couldn't be able to recevie the screenSaver dbus message. Steps to reproduce Put attached test.sh under /tmp/test.sh Put attached screen-status-monitor.desktop to /etc/xdg/autostart/screen-status-monitor.desktop Click Lock menu very quickly after login Verify /tmp/result, the first "true/false" is to query dbus org.gnome.screensaver.GetAcitve, the second is to query session lock status from loginctl utility, they both indicate "unlocked" status. Moving mouse quickly still makes the Xorg process consume signifficant CPU% (up to 25%), but gnome-shell doesn't get near to the level it used to consume. I can reproduce the issue on focal but not on groovy. I installed the groovy version of the ibus binaries on focal, but the issue was still present, so this seems not to be an ibus bug. [Bug 1901017] [NEW] Desktop gradually increases response lag to clicks in 20.04 (Fixed by Alt+F2, "r"))
Public bug reported: After a day or so of uptime, system will grow quite sluggish to respond to mouse clicks. Clicking on an app in the dock with multiple windows will lag up to 1 second, clicking different windows will do the same. Curiously, right clicking on the desktop takes longer, sometimes over 2 seconds for the menu to appear. Clicking the Calendar/Notification area and other areas of the shell yield the same issue. Actual drawing performance does NOT seem to be affected, as browsing and in-application clicking is still snappy. Highlighting icons by hovering over the dock is also real-time. This has reliably occurred after more than a day of uptime on multiple occasions. My machine is a Ryzen 3600 with 32GB RAM and an NVIDIA 1050Ti (Proprietary driver) No unusually high CPU usage is found, nor is there anything that seems to be using very much RAM. Grab the left half of the title bar of the window and drag it to the right side of the left monitor. Don't let go - The orange window snapping guide will appear in the correct place 4. [Bug 1896091] Re: [i915] graphic corruption following orkqueue: PF_MEMALLOC task 131(kswapd0) is flushing !WQ_MEM_RECLAIM events_unbound:active_work [i915]
I noticed the same bug in mutter 40, then tried to bisect it and found the same in mutter 3.36. So yeah this appears to be a new kernel (or Mesa) bug. It doesn't seem to happen much if at all if you run gnome- shell. Only in mutter for me. ** Bug watch added: gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/issues #1485 https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/issues/1485 ** Also affects: mutter via https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/issues/1485 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Changed in: mutter (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Invalid ** Summary changed: - [i915] graphic corruption following orkqueue: PF_MEMALLOC task 131(kswapd0) is flushing !WQ_MEM_RECLAIM events_unbound:active_work [i915] + [i915] Noise-like graphics corruption -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to mutter in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1896091 Title: [i915] Noise-like graphics corruption To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mutter/+bug/1896091/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
