[Bug 1914164] Re: Time and other labels randomly disappear from the menu panel (top bar)

2021-02-01 Thread Tom
1. I don't think something is covering the clock, because it's not just
the clock that has problems. The text on other controls on menu panel is
also affected, see attached photos.

2. Attached

3. bug 1876632 seems similar, however the text is not corrupted, it has
simply disappeared.

[Bug 1914164] Re: Time and other labels randomly disappear from the menu panel (top bar)

2021-02-01 Thread Daniel van Vugt
1. It looks like ubuntu-appindicators is active on this machine. Are you
sure it's not just indicator icons covering the clock, like bug 1883130?

2. Please also provide a screenshot or photo of the problem.

3. You seem to have the nvidia driver installed, which may also be the
problem if the labels go missing after resume from suspend/hibernate
(bug 1876632). Please check to see if the problem only occurs after
suspend/resume or VT switching.

[Bug 1857392] Re: Window manager warning: Overwriting existing binding of keysym 37 with keysym 37 (keycode 10).

2021-02-01 Thread Dan John Cook
This is pretty nasty. I'm on a Dell laptop, running an oem kernel, with 20.04.1
lts, and some oem firmware for the nvidia prime tool. Anyway, a few times a
day, the laptop freezes up, no hid available. When I reboot by powering down
(only thing that works, not even ssh), I look into my logs, and always the last
thing I see are these pesky lines.
```
gnome-shell[2261]: Window manager warning: Overwriting existing binding of
keysym 31 with keysym 31 (keycode a).
...
```
Not sure what this means, but I'm pretty sure its screwing up my experience
with Ubuntu on dell laptop.

Public bug reported:

The on-screen keyboard (OSK) does not appear in Firefox nor Qt apps

Steps to reproduce the bug:

0. Turn on the assistive OSK from Settings
1. Select a text field in a webpage in Firefox → No OSK
2. Select a text field in a Qt app (e.g. Goldendict) → No OSK

[Bug 1912060] Re: [SRU] caribou: Segfault (as regression of xorg CVE-2020-25712 fix) cause security issue for cinnamon

2021-02-01 Thread Fantu
The MR with the second patch is still not merged upstream.
I tested on focal build without it (Fix subkey popmenu not showing after being
dismissed) (https://launchpad.net/~fantonifabio/+archive/ubuntu/ubuntu-fixes)
and the crash is not reproducible, so if you want you can at least apply the
security fix and the build fix without the second patch with that additional
fix is tested.
but without that additional fix you can select one of the characters of the
sub-menu of the letter 'e' at most once then there is no longer the possibility
of making it appear, and this does not seem good to me; in that case I would
recommend making an additional sru with that other later (if you exclude it
from the build security fix)

[Bug 1914031] [NEW] Blank screen issue with epiphany-browser package

2021-02-01 Thread Dixit Vyas
Public bug reported:

When we install the epiphany-browser package and open the browser and
maximize it we are facing the blank screen issue and unable to use the
browser.

It's been observed in the bionic 18.04 Ubuntu version.
Platform: arm64
OS: Weston desktop

We analyzed and found it is due to the up-gradation of the three
dependency libraries of the epiphany-browser package namely
libwebkit2gtk-4.0-37, libbrotli1, and libjavascriptcoregtk-4.0-18.

The Issue observed with the Epiphany-browser version of 3.28.6-0ubuntu1.

When we downgrade the dependency libraries which is being installed,
libwebkit2gtk-4.0-37 from 2.30.3-0ubuntu0.18.04.1 to 2.28.2-0ubuntu0.18.04.1,
libjavascriptcoregtk-4.0-18 from 2.30.3-0ubuntu0.18.04.1 to
2.28.2-0ubuntu0.18.04.1,
libbrotli1 from 1.0.3-1ubuntu1.3 to 1.0.3-1ubuntu1.2

The epiphany-browser blank screen issue is solved. But by default when
we apt-get install epiphany-browser, we are facing the blank screen
issue.

[Bug 1913411] Re: While I updating ModemManager to 1.14.2, there isno mobile broadband in system status bar drop-down menu.

2021-02-01 Thread Freedom
This problem is solved, the patch is in here:
https://gitlab.gnome.org/Popax21/gnome-
shell/-/commit/461bbcff153d7167d22bbf0e80ecbc5397d724cd

However, there is no updated package on Ubuntu 20.04 to solve it. Will
there be an updated package to solve this problem later? This question
is very important because the current supported ModemManager-1.12.8 does
not support 5G capability, and only updates to ModemManager >=1.14.0
will supports 5G. Can this patch be added to the next version of
Ubuntu20.04 gnome-shell package?

Best Regards,
Freedom
