Hey Milfred, sorry you are hitting this issue.

What Ubuntu release is this? And can you confirm that the desktop
envirnment you're using is the Ubuntu desktop, and not something else?

Thanks.

[Bug 1921883] [NEW] Notification badges for app switcher

2021-03-30 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

The Alt+Tab application switcher could benefit from a colored
notification badge. This *could* be a number with the amount of
notifications, but honestly, a simple boolean "has / has no badge" would
suffice already.

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

[ Impact ]

That's the current GNOME stable update, including some fixes and translation
updates
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/-/commits/3.36.9

[ Test case ]

The update is part of GNOME stable updates
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates/GNOME

[ Regression potential ]

Login a11y changed and so the usage of icons for notifications.

[Bug 1865838] Re: no error displayed on failed fingerprint authentication

2021-03-30 Thread Treviño
** Description changed:

  [ Impact ]

No fingerprint errors are exposed on fingerprint login failures.

from journalctl, gdm-fingerprint shows error there after retried 5 times
of fingerprint login failed, so I open this issue here.
-

  [ Test case ]

  1. enroll fingerprint for your right index finger.
  2. logout
  3. login and try login by incorrect finger e.g. middle finger
  4. Each time the wrong finger is used an error is shown
  5. After 3 times retries, an authentication error is shown, suggesting
-to use another method.
+    to use another method.

  [ Regression potential]

Wrong errors are shown during both fingerprint auth and other kinds of
authentications.
Password failures aren't properly exposed. Verification can't restart on
error.
+
+ Password authentication doesn't work anymore for users with no enrolled
+ prints (as per LP: #1915570)

[Bug 1905370] Re: Qt-based tray icons not displayed on start-up

2021-03-30 Thread Sebastien Bacher
The desktop team doesn't intend to spend efforts on fixing non critical
bugs on 20.10 at this point, it's not a LTS serie and we don't have the
resources to SRU the same fixes to intermediate series. The bug isn't
going to block people from upgrading so there is no reason it should be
mandatory to fix there

[Bug 1921929] [NEW] Cancelling an ongoing verification via Escape key doesn't work

2021-03-30 Thread Treviño
Public bug reported:

[ Impact ]

When an identification is in progress, we can't cancel the user
verification via Escape key

[ Test case ]

- Start authenticating an user (using a wrong password may make this easier to
trigger)
- Hit Escape
- Authentication is cancelled and user can put PIN / password again

[ Regression potential ]

Authentication fails even if it should not, user authentication may lead
to user to see the user lists under gdm when not expected.

[Bug 1919979] Re: Dock covers the top panel during the login animation

2021-03-30 Thread Daniel van Vugt
It appears dash-to-dock is listening for 'workareas-changed' correctly.
The problem is the first 'workareas-changed' happens before the panel
exists, so it's the wrong work area. And then the second 'workareas-
changed' happens around 900ms after the panel is allocated, which is
also after the startup animation. So it seems the bug really is that
'workareas-changed' is not being emitted between the panel being
allocated and the startup animation completing. This would affect a
variety of extensions; not just docks but also desktop icons.

This is gtk-nocsd bug. Gtk-nocsd is not compatible with new HdyWindow.
The debian version is unmaintained as of now.

The new code is https://github.com/ZaWertun/gtk3-nocsd.

Perhaps one can try with that library.

Note: If you install gnome-session you will need this patch from

2021-03-30 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for your bug report. That's probably a lower stack issue,
could do

$ journalctl -f

then try to change the status and copy the log generated?

[Bug 1777405] Re: Freezes on switching back from second login

2021-03-30 Thread Hernan
I have the same (or similar) problem.
To resolve the freezing of most of the gui applications, I have to repeat the
logoff-login operation, pressing the shortkey-combinations CTRL + ALT + F1, and
the problem seems to disapere.
