Sounds kind of like https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome- shell/-/issues/3571 although the root cause of that one does not exist in GNOME 3.38. [Bug 1181666] Re: gnome-shell randomly blocks mouse clicks from working in app windows
If there were any "crashes" then indeed using a Xorg session you would not notice them, because gnome-shell on Xorg can restart seamlessly and your apps are unaffected. That doesn't mean Wayland is crashing more often than Xorg, only that a Xorg session recovers better from gnome- shell crashes. But this bug is not about crashes. It's about app windows not responding to clicks while the shell does. So if you do experience that problem then we would like to know how to reproduce it. We probably don't want any discussions of crashes here because I don't think they will be relevant. They should get their own separate bug reports. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1181666 Title: gnome-shell randomly blocks mouse clicks from working in app windows To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-shell/+bug/1181666/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1922548] Re: Crash accessing Home of another user
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps: 1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run: ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug. 2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please send the links to us. 3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921, reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1. Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security risk for yourself. ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1922548 Title: Crash accessing Home of another user To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1922548/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1871262 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1871262 I comment here because I can reproduce the issue and want to add more specifics. The issue happened since upgrade to 21.04 dev branch with gnome-shell both on Wayland and Xorg. Then suddenly screen doesn't respond to any keyboard or mouse input, with window previews staying there. (In fact mouse movement is visible but clicking to close a window is no longer effective. I can restart the gnome-shell by inputting alt+F2 & r) How to reproduce : 1. Press 'Super', or move mouse to top-left corner. 2. [Bug 1872796] Re: gnome-shell animations are noticeably stuttery when the Ubuntu extensions are enabled
I should note that desktop-icons-ng living in a separate process is a very good thing. It means CPU and memory usage of the extension is clearly in a separate process from gnome-shell. There's very little desktop-icons-ng can do to slow down the shell, other than redrawing too much of the desktop too often (because it's a big window). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1872796 Title: gnome-shell animations are noticeably stuttery when the Ubuntu extensions are enabled To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/dash-to-dock/+bug/1872796/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1922540] [NEW] Display orientation resets on reboot with USB-C external monitor and refresh rate dropdown disappears when setting it sometimes
Public bug reported: When rebooting with USB-C external monitor (3440x1440) attached, display orientation in "gnome-control-center display" resets requiring one to reposition the windows on boot.
