[Bug 1934836] Re: Gnome control center crashing when setting display positions

2021-07-06 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To
help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps:

1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run:
ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash
Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug.

2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where
ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine.
Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please
send the links to us.

3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921,
reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1.

Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are
unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security
risk for yourself.

Thunderbird can take many seconds to start and close, so sometimes it
does really still have some windows half-prepared in memory but not

[Bug 1934761] Re: gnome keyboard settings panel enforces single iso-level3-shift key

2021-07-06 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
When switching to g-c-c 40, the MR

https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-control-center/-/merge_requests/910

was included in Ubuntu as patches to avoid a worse regression. Your
example shows that there is room for improvement of that upstream
proposal. Apparently it hasn't been considered carefully enough how that
new Settings -> Keyboard control plays together with using e.g. Tweaks
for setting XKB options.

@Julian: It would be great if you could add your observation to the
upstream MR.

[Bug 1934787] [NEW] Sync network-manager-openvpn 1.8.14-1 (main) from Debian experimental (main)

2021-07-06 Thread Oibaf
Public bug reported:

Please sync network-manager-openvpn 1.8.14-1 (main) from Debian
experimental (main)

*NOTE: this release properly support tls-crypt-v2 certifcates, which
current Ubuntu version fail to import!*

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
  * Cherry-pick two upstream commits (that were released with 1.8.14) to fix
connecting to some OpenVPN providers when using openvpn >= 2.5.0
(LP: #1922423)
- debian/patches/upstream-56bb08f.patch
- debian/patches/upstream-353a521.patch

These changes are cherry picked from 1.8.14, so they are already
included in Debian 1.8.14-1.

Changelog entries since current impish version 1.8.12-2ubuntu1:

network-manager-openvpn (1.8.14-1) experimental; urgency=medium

  * New upstream version 1.8.14
  * Fix capitalization error in package description

[Bug 1934579] Re: Nautilus crashes when opening places from the dock contextmenu

2021-07-06 Thread koyakun
Thank you for your detailed instructions.

1. There is a /var/crash/_usr_bin_nautilus.1000.crash file. When I run
ubuntu-bug _usr_bin_nautilus.1000.crash, a window opens which says: 'The
application Files has closed unexpectedly. Send problem report to the
developers? ExecutablePath /usr/bin/nautilus...' However, after I click
'Send', a bug report browser window does not open.

2. Here is the link for '2021-07-06 20:07 2021-07-06 11:07 UTC Crash nautilus':

3. After commenting out line 23 ("'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'],") in
'/etc/apport/crashdb.conf', the bug report browser window opened, so I was able
to file the bug report, which is here:

[Bug 1934761] [NEW] gnome keyboard settings panel enforces single iso-level3-shift key

2021-07-06 Thread Julian Andres Klode
Public bug reported:

My Unicomp has a right windows key and alt key in swapped positions, so
I configured right windows key to act as a second Alt_R (well
ISO_Level3_Shift), using gnome-tweaks, leading to:

/org/gnome/desktop/input-sources/xkb-options
  ['caps:none', 'lv3:rwin_switch']

Opening the keyboard page in gnome settings resets this to

/org/gnome/desktop/input-sources/xkb-options
  ['caps:none', 'lv3:ralt_alt', 'lv3:rwin_switch']

Effectively disabling the Alt Gr (right alt key) from acting as level 3
shift.

Enabling right alt explicitly is not better. That sets

/org/gnome/desktop/input-sources/xkb-options
  ['caps:none', 'lv3:ralt_switch', 'lv3:rwin_switch']

and opening the keyboard panel then just deletes the windows key switch:

/org/gnome/desktop/input-sources/xkb-options
  ['caps:none', 'lv3:ralt_switch']

Not sure if it's a regression, but it's problematic anyway.

** Affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Summary changed:

- gnome keyboard settings always set lv3:ralt_alt xkb option when
lv3:rwin_switch is set
+ gnome keyboard settings enforces single iso-level3-shift key

** Summary changed:

- gnome keyboard settings enforces single iso-level3-shift key
+ gnome keyboard settings panel enforces single iso-level3-shift key

[Bug 1933996] Re: Alt-tab stops switching windows [JS ERROR: TypeError: window is null _createWindowClone@resource:///org/gnome/shell/ui/altTab.js:29:27]

2021-07-06 Thread Florian
Not sure whether the upstream issue, which is several months old, is the
same. The present one seems to have kicked in for several users at the
same time at the end of June 2021.

It looks like it is somehow connected to Thunderbird.

Also see this comment, for one way of reproducing it:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-
shell/+bug/1934527/comments/4

I can also confirm that it does not seem to occur if Thunderbird isn't
running at all.

[Bug 1934527] Re: Window switching with Alt-Tab stops working after a while

2021-07-06 Thread Krzysztof Raczkowski
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1933996 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1933996

I've noticed, that problems start just after I create a new message in
Thunderbird and press Send button. Message is sent, its windows is
closed, and from this time dock and alt+tab is broken.

[Bug 1934589] Re: No log in button

2021-07-06 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Oh sorry. There's no login button in the standard theme either. Only a
back button.

As a workaround you can just press Enter instead.

I can't find any existing requests for this feature. Please also open an

for the developers to see.

[Bug 1934584] [NEW] Text and Icons are not shown after resuming from sleep

2021-07-06 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Sometimes when resuming from sleep, ubuntu (gnome) does not render all
text and icons. Lots of text from menus are missing.

I've added a couple of screenshots as an attachment to illustrate.

This does not happen everywhere, for example, Chrome, Firefox, and
Nautilus all look ok by themselves.
