[Bug 1946307] Re: Persistent loss of focus when an application goes full screen

2021-10-06 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Unfortunately the decision to minimize on a loss of focus is up to the
game itself, so that part is not an Ubuntu bug.

What is an Ubuntu bug is that desktop-icons-ng still steals and then
quickly restores focus when an app goes fullscreen. This is harmless to
most fullscreen apps but obviously not to some games.

A proper fix might end up coming from mutter rather that desktop-icons-
ng. I'm not sure yet.

** Summary changed:

- Persistent loss of focus when an application goes full screen
+ Loss of focus when an application goes full screen

** Also affects: mutter (Ubuntu)

Looks like there has been one instance of 40.5-1ubuntu2 still hitting
this crash. Incomplete while we work out if it is really true, or if it
was just the old version still running after the new version had been
installed.

It appears the 'improved...@luebke.io' extension is what you are seeing.
Please use the 'Extensions' app to disable it and then you will get the
regular GNOME onscreen keyboard that does not have such scaling bugs.

[Bug 1946279] [NEW] GNOME session crashes on wakeup from sleep

2021-10-06 Thread Fletcher Porter
Public bug reported:

Upon waking up, my system occasionally has its GNOME session crash after
logging in. This takes it back to the log-in screen, and resets the
session with all previous windows lost.

Here are some relevant logs.

```
12:46:01 gnome-shell: The program 'gnome-shell' received an X Window System
error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)'.
  (Details: serial 330049 error_code 11 request_code 12 (core protocol)
minor_code 0)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
   that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
   To debug your program, run it with the GDK_SYNCHRONIZE environment
   variable to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
   backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)
Re: [Bug 1945992] Re: Onscreen keyboard is to big in 200% scale
2021-10-06 Thread Jacek Wróbel
Hi,
Thank you for response.
I had created a bootable pendrive with 20.04 version of Ubuntu. I
installed this and then updated system, using regular system update
tool.
So I am now on 20.04.3 version. I did not install any additional
keyboards or packages so I have no idea what kind of keyboard it could
be. I even don't know how to change it to GNOME keyboard.
If I enable onscreen keyboard in system settings, it shows the same
keyboard you saw on screenshots.
firefox snap (see https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/feature-freeze-
Jamie, I assume this should be unassigned, as you're not actively
Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does
not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to
a question in the support tracker. We understand the difficulties you
are facing, but it is better to raise problems you are having in the
support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are
uncertain if they are bugs. You can also find help with your problem in
the support forum of your local Ubuntu community http://loco.ubuntu.com/
or asking at https://askubuntu.com or https://ubuntuforums.org. For help
on reporting bugs, see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs.
[Bug 1946204] [NEW] Animations stutter constantly on Nvidia in GNOME 40
2021-10-06 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Public bug reported:
[Impact]
Animations stutter constantly on Nvidia in GNOME 40.
We're missing:
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/merge_requests/1826
[Test Plan]
1. Run glxgears and maximize it.
2. Watch closely.
Expect consistently smooth animation.
[Where problems could occur]
Since the fix touches on frame scheduling it could (and should) affect
the smoothness of the entire screen. Although it is designed to only
affect drivers that have `frame_clock->last_presentation_time_us == 0`,
so that's the Nvidia proprietary driver and maybe some virtual machine
configurations.
[Other Info]
The upstream fix mutter!1826 is currently only in mutter 41, not in the
mutter 40 branch yet.
