[Bug 1949675] [NEW] Only one login option 'Ubuntu' and it is a Xorg session, if booted with the monitor turned off

2021-11-03 Thread Daniel van Vugt
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1919400 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1919400

Public bug reported:

If booted with the monitor turned off then there is only one login
option 'Ubuntu' and it is a Xorg session.

This appears to be a result of GDM's normal "try Wayland and if it
doesn't work then hide it". But since Xorg seems to be more resilient in
this case it suggests we can do better for Wayland too. But I'm not sure
if only gdm3 or only mutter (Wayland) needs fixing.

ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 21.10
Package: gdm3 41~rc-0ubuntu2

[Bug 1949598] Re: Wrong resolution on second monitor after resume from suspend

2021-11-03 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks for the bug report.

Does the same bug occur if you log into 'Ubuntu on Xorg'?

Does the same bug occur if you run the Ubuntu kernel instead of the
generic one you have installed?

[Bug 1949598] [NEW] Wrong resolution on second monitor after resume from suspend

2021-11-03 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I am running Ubuntu 21.10 on wayland.

I have two monitors connected to a AMD 5500xt, one via HDMI and another,
the secondary, via DP, with an DP->VGA adaptor. This setup worked just
fine on Ubuntu 21.04, also on wayland.

After updating to 21.10, often (but not always) the secondary monitor
wakes up showing a wrong, lower resolution. Instead of the normal
1280x1024, it starts at 800x600. Despite this, in Gnome Settings the
resolution is still reported as 1280x1024.

I can solve this issue by changing the resolution in settings and
reverting back to 1280x1024.

2021-11-03 Thread István Váradi
Please note, that while I created the apport report in a VM (actually
VirtualBox, no VMWare), the problem originally occurred on a native
installation. So I am not sure the vmware tag is relevant.
