[Bug 1973467] Re: [nvidia] Screen Blank: External screen is not turned off

2022-06-03 Thread Zingam
I tried a few more times and none of the issues I have with Wayland are
present with Xorg:

1. External monitor doesn't turn off during sleep
2. Internal display doesn't wake up from sleep
3. Crashes while resizing snapped/joined windows fast continously
4. No nightlight
5. Mozilla (XWayland) leaves artifacts (part of the image) on the desktop when
restoring window from full-screen when playing YouTube videos.
6. Inconsistent desktop GNOME performance, mouse doesn't feel smooth

I reported or voted for all of the above.

[Bug 1970019] Re: Users Menu in Settings

2022-06-03 Thread nany
Hello,

In bug 1706770 we can read:
"`gnome-system-tools` was originally included in Ubuntu MATE because it offers
user and time management features. But it can now be removed from the Ubuntu
MATE default install because recent versions of MATE Control Center provide
user and time management."

If recent versions of MATE Control Center provide user and time
management, then WHERE?

[Bug 1973467] Re: [nvidia] Screen Blank: External screen is not turned off

2022-06-03 Thread Zingam
I tried this just once in Xorg session.

These two issues didn't occur:

1. External monitor was turned off during sleep
2. Internal display did turn on after waking from sleep

In a Wayland session

1. On sleep: The External monitor glows but is blank. The internal display
doesn't glow.
2. On wake: The External display wakes up. The internal display doesn't wake up.

(2.) was reported separately but I can't find it any longer. I think you
said that the something crashed in the attached log report.

[Bug 1972077] Re: cursor sizes "larger" and "largest" are as big as "large"

2022-06-03 Thread Almo
I don't get the effect of "close settings dialog; cursor changes to
larger/largest" it stays "normal" and this isn't comfortable on my
current display (can't find the little rascal).

I use Jammy on an HDMI display primary, laptop lid closed and haven't
tested whether the primary laptop display has the same problem. I am
able to enlarge the cursor in Firefox, but as soon as I leave that
window, it is back to "normal" size, which I believe is 25px.

[Bug 1968548] Re: firefox unable to open files from file-roller

2022-06-03 Thread Olivier Tilloy
Indeed, by default file-roller will temporarily unpack files in the
user's cache folder (it can in some cases fall back to the user's home
directory, or a temporary directory, see
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/file-roller/-/blob/master/src/file-
utils.c#L55).

Given this, I wonder whether it would be acceptable to allow firefox
(and other browser snaps) to read files under @{HOME}/.cache/fr-*/, by
amending an existing snapd interface.

Or could file-roller be patched to use the OpenFile method of the
FileChooser portal (https://flatpak.github.io/xdg-desktop-portal/#gdbus-
method-org-freedesktop-portal-FileChooser.OpenFile)? Would you mind
filing a file-roller bug at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/file-
roller/-/issues to request this, and link back to it here?

[Bug 1976204] Re: system freeze and gnome-shell reports multiple stack trace

2022-06-03 Thread Treviño
It would be relevant to understand where gnome-shell freezes.

So please once you've installed the debug symbols of gnome-shell, mutter
and glib do:

 sudo gdb -p $(pidof /usr/bin/gnome-shell) /usr/bin/gnome-shell

Then there Ctrl+C and `bt`.

Also do:

`call (void) gjs_dumpstack()`

And you should find where the shell is hanging on JS side reading the
shell journal.
