[Bug 1961508] Re: Dock displaying over window after resuming from blank screen

2022-10-20 Thread ExploreWiki
Sebastian, are you using an external monitor connected to HDMI when this
problem occurs?

I've just seen Andrea's comment above in number 3 and noticed that I
have the same setup. Laptop with an external HDMI display plugged in.

I can now replicate the problem consistently. When I plug in the
external HDMI monitor, the dock on my laptop overlaps the window. When I
unplug the HDMI monitor the dock on my laptop goes back to normal.

So I believe this problem is related to using a HDMI external monitor.
The external monitor doesn't have a dock and so it goes full screen
which is correct. However, it also puts the laptop monitor full screen
sometimes, and therefore the dock overlaps the window.

[Bug 1993749] [NEW] system freeze after pasting documents from folders to online services or usb devices.

2022-10-20 Thread Irvin Hernandez
Public bug reported:

The system freezes after copy and paste some large files from the
documents folder to an external usb storage device. Or if you try to
copy and paste some files from the documents folder to a cloud storage
using the online services like google. For example if you have identical
files and try to merge those files in an external usb device it's going
to freeze the whole system or it's going to be in a loop saying the
device cannot be disconnected because the device is busy, even though
the status bar up in the window says it finish already with the task.
Try to copy and paste some large files from the documents folder into a
external usb storage device and after the task is finish try to copy and
paste the same files from the documents folder to the usb device and
merge them, the problem shows up after doing that, or if have an online
account link into your system like google using online services and if
you have the cloud storage shown up in nautilus, try to do the same,
copy and paste files from a folder, wait until it finish and paste it
again and the problem shows up always after that. Leaving the system
completely frozen without being able to do anything else than shutting
down the laptop by the shutdown button.

[Bug 1993747] [NEW] Chromium browser "save as" window behaviour

2022-10-20 Thread Guillaume Michaud
Public bug reported:

Hi!

I have noticed that on both Ubuntu 22.04 and 22.10, when using a
Chromium browser and opening a "save as" window (e.g. to save an image),
I can't just push "Enter" and save nor push "Escape" and close the
window. I have to click on the "Save" or "Cancel" buttons.

All Chromium browsers look impacted.
I tested on Chrome (106.0.5249.119), Brave (Version 1.44.112 Chromium:
106.0.5249.119 ) and Edge (Version 106.0.1370.52) tonight on Ubuntu 22.10.
It was already the case a few months ago on Ubuntu 22.04 with both Brave
(Version 1.39.122 Chromium: 102.0.5005.115) and Edge (Version 102.0.1245.44) -
not tested with Chrome.

That used to work on previous Ubuntu versions, and still works for other
programs such as LibreOffice.

Thanks a lot!

[Bug 1952107] Re: Google Contacts API Deprecated

2022-10-20 Thread V B
Hi again Affred and thank you very much for trying to help me. So, firstly,
just to be sure that there is no confusion, the way I configured my google
account in Ubuntu 22.04 is not in Evolution, but in Ubuntu Settings -> Online
Accounts, then Evolution automatically uses that account. In Online Accounts I
ticked all possible things to sync for my google account (including Contacts).
Like I said, entering the app password in Online Accounts is not accepted by
Ubuntu. Then I did, as you said, open the Seahorse app. When I look into that
with the filter set to "Show any" (so that it doeas not filter any entries
out), I see no entry for Address Book. The only entry I see is named "GOA
google credentials for identity account_xx_y" and it has a poassword
field (can be edited after clicking right on the entry and choosing Properties)
like:
{'authorization_code':
<'a'>,
'access_token':
<''>,

'access_token_expires_at': , 'refresh_token':
<'ccc'>}

So there is no password or app password part in the above field. I even
tried to replace that field with {'password': <''>},
where ee...ee will be the app password, or directly with ee...eee, but
no luck.

Any other suggestions please? Thank you very much.

[Bug 1993557] Re: Nautilus "Files" hangs when trying to type search string

2022-10-20 Thread Philippe Lamalle
I performed a Files search with gdb running - since this is where my
trouble lies. Files hanged as before. I tried ^C within the gdb screen,
but without effect. I had to force quit Files before I could type
anything in the gdb.

Now, I have tried again and was able to ^C in gdb with force quit in
Files. The new gdb-nautilus.txt is attached, hope this is more useful.

Not sure what I have to do to find out about about tracker and would
need more detailed guidance - being an end user and not an IT
professional: according to Synaptic package manager I have tracker,
tracker-extract and tracker-miner-fs 3.3.0-1 installed. But typing
'tracker' or 'tracker-control' results in 'command not found'.

[Bug 1952107] Re: Google Contacts API Deprecated

2022-10-20 Thread Alfred Porter
If I recall, you need to open the Seahorse application and search for
"Address Book" entries. These need to be changed to the app-specific
password you created in Google. But when Evolution interactively asks
you for your Google account, you will still use the normal password that
goes along with that account.

It looks like this change caused it

Can this change be reverted?

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
gnome-control-center-42~rc-1.fc36.x86_64

How reproducible:
A+++

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install latest Fedora Workstation 36 testing image
2. Go to Settings > About
3. Behold blurry Fedora logo

Actual results:

Can you try updating to the latest and check again? The other
possibility is that it may be related to the resolution (hidpi?). I see
that your image is 2553x1390, which is not a common desktop resolution.

I requested that revert because I tested the change on F35 and found it
caused gnome-control-center to display the logo at a huge size. It was
obviously broken.

I didn't test F36 or rawhide, though. These are different because they
use GTK 4 instead of GTK 3, with different underlying widgets to display
the image. Perhaps it's totally fine. Just needs to be tested.

It's probably only blurry on hidpi, which is likely why I didn't notice.

[Bug 1993557] Re: Nautilus "Files" hangs when trying to type search string

2022-10-20 Thread Sebastien Bacher
It seems the indexing service is also having an issue, probably hitting
a bug on one of the files it tries to index and not dealing with the
error correctly.

https://wiki.gnome.org/Projects/Tracker/Documentation/Debugging has the
debugging details

is 'tracker search <...>' working or is it also having issues?
