[Bug 2003844] Re: Screensharing from my browser (Firefox snap) freezes the display requiring a hard reboot

2023-01-29 Thread Daniel van Vugt
When you ssh into the machine during a freeze, please also run 'top' to
check if anything is spinning.

[Bug 2004063] Re: mouse pointer becomes laggy after some time and progressively gets worse

2023-01-29 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks for the bug report.

The two most likely causes of this problem are:

  * Shell extensions
  * Chrome tabs

so you should check each of those separately...

Please delete locally installed shell extensions by running:

  cd ~/.local/share/gnome-shell/
  rm -rf extensions

and then log in again.

Please also try just closing Chrome when it happens. Does the system
recover?

After you have closed Chrome and deleted all local shell extensions, if
the problem persists then next please provide output from 'top' and 'ps'
while the problem is happening to show the top CPU and memory users.

[Bug 2003998] Re: Mouse pointer disappears on the second screen [Failed to post KMS update: drmModeAtomicCommit: Device or resource busy]

2023-01-29 Thread Daniel van Vugt
If there's a kernel stack trace mentioning
"drm_atomic_nonblocking_commit" around the same time then please also
paste that here. It's not yet clear if this is mutter or the kernel's
fault.

Likely workaround: Add to /etc/environment

  MUTTER_DEBUG_FORCE_KMS_MODE=simple

and then reboot.

[Bug 1980080] Re: Unable to eject SDcard -getting remounted immediately

2023-01-29 Thread Daniel van Vugt
'impish' is no longer supported so its tag gets removed and replaced
with a more current tag 'jammy' so that the bug does not get
automatically closed for being too old when we do housekeeping later.

[Bug 2003976] Re: 22.04.1 LTS is incredably SLOW!

2023-01-29 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks for the bug report.

I can't see any reason for slowness in the attached information other
than perhaps the use of shell extensions:

  'arduinocont...@simonthechipmunk.noreply.com',
  'sdlug...@nethead.pl',
  'supp...@insynchq.com',
  'l...@johannes.super-productivity.com'

Please try deleting any locally installed extensions:

  cd ~/.local/share/gnome-shell/
  rm -rf extensions

and then reboot. Extensions (that didn't come from Ubuntu) cause a large
number of bugs so the first thing to always try is to remove them.

If the problem is still not solved then please explain in further detail
exactly what is slow. Perhaps attaching a video of the problem would
also help.

[Bug 2004125] [NEW] gvfd-smb is spinning at close 100% CPU and spamming journald

2023-01-29 Thread Matthieu Patou
Public bug reported:

On my laptop running Jammy the gvfd-smb process is consuming close to 100% CPU:
PID UTIL. PR NIVIRTRESSHR S %CPU %MEMTEMPS+ COM.

I'm getting a ton of entries in systemd's user journal like:
Jan 29 14:03:33 artemis gvfsd[302018]: (process:302018): GLib-GIO-WARNING **:

journalctl |grep 'Jan 29 14:03:33'  |wc -l returns 517 lines !

Seems highly similar to the bug reported here:
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gvfs/-/issues/542.

The number of opened files is >1024:
ls -l /proc/302018/fd  | wc =>   1025

dpkg -l | grep vfs

[Bug 1980080] Re: Unable to eject SDcard -getting remounted immediately

2023-01-29 Thread Bartłomiej Żogała
I've just tried to eject/enter the card when running *udisksctl monitor*
. The output attached. What seems strange to me is that one of the
symlinks (to/from ? ) device is stated as /dev/android1 . Not sure what
specific logic causes this and if there was any previous naming
convention agreed but on my device /dev/android1 links to /dev/video -
the built-in camera . Could that be the root issue - that camera and
memory card developers had the same idea of using android1 symlink ? I'm
not sure where to furthe debug this - how kernel, udev and udisks play
alltogether
