[Bug 2024603] [NEW] Selecting an alternate keyboard does not work in Xorg
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Since upgrading to Ubuntu 22.04 I have been having trouble with both Wayland and Xorg. Xorg seems the most stable of the two, so I am attempting to use it, however, I am having some issues that are causing problems. I have added an alternate (Spanish) keyboard. This shows up in both the tray and under the keyboard settings, however, when I select the alternate keyboard it just reverts back to English and does not allow entry via the alternate keyboard. This part does work properly in Wayland allowing me to select either the English or the Spanish keyboard for the current window as I have selected in the settings This issues is currently making Xorg unusable as I need to routinely switch to the Spanish character set for documents and web entry. In both cases Xorg is not responding to or acknowledging the keyboard selections and only staying with the primary (English) keyboard. This is not a problem with Ubuntu 20.04 prior to upgrading. > EDIT: THIS IS THE WORKAROUND: > bind 'set enable-bracketed-paste off' It's absolutely unclear to me what you're referring to here. You mention a workaround that wasn't mentioned earlier in this thread, the word "bind" first appears in your comment (so: where did you take it from?) then you say it doesn't work for you. What do you do with this line? Do you execute it once, as a command? Before or after ssh'ing? Or execute in every terminal? Or place it in a file (which)? If you're looking for help, you should at least tell us step by step what you're doing. (By the way, this is an issue tracking forum and not a user support one. User support questions should much rather go to sites like askubuntu.com or answers.launchpad.net. Your comment does not in any way help developers get closer to fixing the issue.) > It could be due to the fact that it is over ssh? Sure it could be. So, have you experimented with it, have you tried to perform the said action on both computers? > I CANNOT work with this 'feature' enabled. This sounds like an obvious exaggeration. [Bug 44299] Re: Link speed: not available
If you're experiencing issues with gnome-nettool not providing the link speed while mii-tool does, it could be a potential bug or compatibility issue with the gnome-nettool software. To troubleshoot this, you can try the following steps: Update gnome-nettool: Ensure that you have the latest version of gnome- nettool installed on your system. Check for any available updates through your package manager or by visiting the official GNOME website. Check system requirements: Verify that your system meets the necessary requirements for gnome-nettool. Sometimes, certain hardware configurations or drivers can affect the functionality of network monitoring tools. Verify network interface support: Confirm that gnome-nettool supports the specific network interface you are using. Some network adapters or drivers may not be fully compatible with certain tools, leading to inconsistent results. Report the issue: If the problem persists, consider reporting the issue to the developers of gnome-nettool. They may be able to provide insights, offer a solution, or fix the bug in future updates. Sharing your experience on relevant forums or communities dedicated to GNOME or network troubleshooting can also help raise awareness and gather more information.
