[Bug 1965303] Re: Migrate from fbdev drivers to simpledrm and DRM fbdev emulation layer

2023-10-13 Thread Mario Limonciello
The issue won't occur in Lunar. It's only specifically a problem with gdm when
a kernel has been configured this way.
It's not a problem in Jammy yet, but will be a problem when such a kernel gets
backported as HWE.

[Bug 2036310] Re: gnome shell crash after sleep mode

2023-10-13 Thread Marc Deslauriers
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

[Bug 1828107] Re: gvfs can't list shares from smb servers that disabled SMB1

2023-10-13 Thread BloodyIron
Yeah I've confirmed with the release notes (
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gvfs/-/commit/ca9c22c4c41afe8ce4cc4a0bae376e9d2850f0a5
) that the fix (hopefully the one that actually solves this properly) is
in gvfs v1.50.5! "smbbrowse: Fix empty device listing after unrelated
mount failure (Ondrej Holy)".

Ondrej goes on to report that "GVfs 1.50.x is meant for GNOME 42+." so
v1.50.5+ should eventually land in Ubuntu repos probably! As for how
that whole workflow works I know nothing about that. So yay! Can't wait
to apply that code all over my compies! \o/

[Bug 2039297] [NEW] When terminal is closed it blinks few times and closes

2023-10-13 Thread grofaty
Public bug reported:

Today I have upgraded Ubuntu 23.04 to 23.10. The first thing I have
noticed is in gnome-terminal when I click on "x" to close down the
program it blinks few times and then closes. This is new issue I have
never ever have had using Ubuntu for many years and many versions of
Ubuntu.

I use terminal a lot, opening and closing it, and it is little bit
annoying to see this blinking.

[Bug 1825965] Re: Missing "Additional DNS Servers"

2023-10-13 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Upstream closing the bug with that comment

'Well, you're right that it's just a different UI for what is called
"Additional DNS Servers" in nm-connection-editor. So it doesn't matter which
one you use; you should get the same result either way. Hence, I'm going to
close this issue.
But no, that is not how the feature works. What happens is any one of the DNS
servers will be used. The next DNS server will be tried only if the first one
is broken. That is, if the first DNS server successfully returns a negative
result, then the others will never be queried.
To get the behavior you're looking for, you would need to make changes to
systemd-resolved to add an option for that (which might not be accepted), and
then add another option in NetworkManager to enable the systemd-resolved
option. Only if NetworkManager API exists could we expose UI for this in
gnome-control-center.'

Doing the same for the launchpad bug
