[Bug 2065847] [NEW] Right click on a zip file does not offer 'open with archive manager'

2024-05-15 Thread corrado venturini
Public bug reported:

Right click on a zip file does not offer 'open with archive manager'
Also if file-roller is installed by right-click on a .zip file in the drop-down
menu i don’t see the option ‘Open with archive manager’ as i had in Ubuntu
22.04 as 1st option. So I must select ‘Open with’ and search for an app … and
if I don’t know file-roller==archive-manager I’m lost.

I noticed this error messages:
1) when switch the language keyboard layout (with Super+Space)
2) or when switch to the Firefox or Chromium applications (both installed
through Snap

Despite I have catched this messages thousand times in a day, usually I
don't encounter the system freeze. Despite the source in logs is gnome-
shell, it appears in gnome applications also

[Bug 2026194] Re: When clicking on some maximized or tiled windows, focus on roughly the lower quarter falls to the window behind

2024-05-15 Thread Alexey Fomin
Ok I think this is only happening when scale on the display is set, for
me it was 150%. The scale also affected some other windows which lost
borders and resize didn't work for them. After changing back to 100% the
issues seems to be gone but I really want to be able to scale my screen

[Bug 2026194] Re: When clicking on some maximized or tiled windows, focus on roughly the lower quarter falls to the window behind

2024-05-15 Thread Alexey Fomin
I'm having this same issue on Ubuntu 24, All IntelliJ IDEs are affected
including Android Studio (which is based on IntelliJ i think?) Didn't
notice with anything else. The only fix for me seems to be to minimize
all the other windows on the screen, if there is only desktop under
current window the issue is not happening

[Bug 2052913] Re: [Xorg] Large performance regression in fullscreen windows

2024-05-15 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I'm not sure I can work on this while I only have one laptop on hand
this week. I am getting highly erratic benchmark results where a bare
Xorg server runs *slower* than gnome-shell on Xorg. No wonder so few
people have reported it, because it's not always easy to notice or
reproduce.

[Bug 2065587] Re: Add explicit dependency on glib 2.80 to ease upgrades 22.04 → 24.04

2024-05-15 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I'm not sure gir1.2-glib-2.0 is enough here. After making a fresh jammy
VM and upgrading it to noble, I had to manually install all of
/var/cache/apt/archives/gir1.2* before I could get a login screen. And
after that I still can't log in.

When trying to reproduce this bug I am seeing fatal errors failing to
find schema 'org.gnome.desktop.peripherals.pointingstick'. Even though
it is installed.

I suspect bug 2065587 is the same issue but am yet to confirm a working

Re: [Bug 2059847] Re: Input lag or freezes on Nvidia desktops with X11 after logging "MetaSyncRing: Sync object is not ready -- were events handled properly?"

2024-05-15 Thread Marsh
Daniel;

Thanks for the update. Installed successfully and seems to be working fine
now. I have put the packages on hold this time to prevent unintended
upgrades like the last week.

If you can't hear the dogwoods barking you're taking things too

[Bug 2046844] Re: AppArmor user namespace creation restrictions cause many applications to crash with SIGTRAP

2024-05-15 Thread Pirouette Cacahuète
I am also just wondering how we can effectively work on sandbox-related
code on 24.04 ; does it means any developper (and potentially CI) will
have to setup its AppArmor profile **also** matching the builds to have
proper userns ? The way it is currently handled, I dont see any other
way around, but it also means it needs to be done for any objdir we work
on ?

[Bug 2059818] Re: Regression: Jammy to Noble, set_label no longer functions

I installed the 58-1 version of gnome-shell-extension-appindicator from
noble-proposed and rebooted and can confirm that I now see the label on
an appindicator (indicator-sensors in this case) as expected.

[Bug 2065345] [NEW] Locked Screen Won't Unlock With Key Press

2024-05-15 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

When the screen locks on its own, on-screen instructions say to click or
enter a key to unlock screen. All previous versions of Ubuntu allow me
to start typing my password and the password box would appear and
populate as I was typing. After installing Ubuntu 24.04 I now have to
click the mouse to bring up the password screen, then type my password.

If I manually lock the screen the keyboard input works as expected - I
can simply start typing my password to log in.

[Bug 2065110] [NEW] Problems playing Full Screen Videos

2024-05-15 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Anytime I try to play a video full screen it will work for a second or
two. The I get a black screen for a second and the video will keep
playing but only on the top left corner, the task bar (I have it at the
bottom) will start flashing in and out. Audio plays fine all time.
Maximazing the app works. I have use the default video player as well
as VLC and Haruna Video Player (Haruna is the only one I have found to
play the next video on a folder by pressing the next fwd buttom).

[Bug 2059847] Re: Input lag or freezes on Nvidia desktops with X11 after logging "MetaSyncRing: Sync object is not ready -- were events handled properly?"

2024-05-15 Thread Daniel van Vugt
You don't really need to enable jammy-proposed. Just download the 3
proposed packages:

 *
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mutter/42.9-0ubuntu8/+build/28435945/+files/gir1.2-mutter-10_42.9-0ubuntu8_amd64.deb

 *
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mutter/42.9-0ubuntu8/+build/28435945/+files/libmutter-10-0_42.9-0ubuntu8_amd64.deb

 *
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mutter/42.9-0ubuntu8/+build/28435945/+files/mutter-
common_42.9-0ubuntu8_all.deb

and if you already had the 'mutter' package (which you don't need) then
also:

 *
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mutter/42.9-0ubuntu8/+build/28435945/+files/mutter_42.9-0ubuntu8_amd64.deb

And install them as one:

  sudo dpkg -i *.deb

[Bug 2059847] Re: Input lag or freezes on Nvidia desktops with X11 after logging "MetaSyncRing: Sync object is not ready -- were events handled properly?"

2024-05-15 Thread Donn Ingle
@sladyo - Thanks. I hope I manage all that! Should I do this, or wait
for some official 22.04 solution? Don't want to further snafu the whole
thing.
