[Bug 2059847] Re: Input lag or freezes on Nvidia desktops with X11 after logging "MetaSyncRing: Sync object is not ready -- were events handled properly?"
Also that test failure reliability issue (bug 2068119) had already been fixed in all later Ubuntu releases via Debian. It was unlucky that 22.04 was missing that fix because the fixed-in-Debian path only put it in Mutter 43 and later. [Bug 2059847] Re: Input lag or freezes on Nvidia desktops with X11 after logging "MetaSyncRing: Sync object is not ready -- were events handled properly?"
I agree the time delay was unacceptable here. Although I did write the fix immediately, it got stuck in red tape and an element of bad luck. The offending change could not be rolled back because it fixed an issue for a major partner as mentioned in comment #23. For most of May I was away (work and vacation), thinking the fix was ready and heading for release, with nothing left to do. Turns out that was wrong because there was a spurious test failure holding it up. I failed to dig deep enough to notice that blockage existed. It looks like "Ubuntu SRU Bot" might have failed to send us enough notifications to tell when the main holdup actually happened. I'm not sure. Other reasons this bug didn't move faster are: * The entire team was busy focussing on the 24.04 release * The entire team was also travelling during May * Most Canonicalers don't use Nvidia * Those who do use Nvidia might not have noticed the bug (like myself when I started investigating it) I don't think there's any way I could have given this more eyeballs during May, but I have personally learned to make to sure open the correct "excuses" tracking page and be more proactive in checking there are no silent test failures lurking in the background holding up an SRU. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to mutter in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2059847 Title: Input lag or freezes on Nvidia desktops with X11 after logging "MetaSyncRing: Sync object is not ready -- were events handled properly?" [Bug 2026194] Re: When clicking on some maximized or tiled windows, focus on roughly the lower quarter falls to the window behind
I have this issue with apps like Discord, SQLite DB Browser, VLC, and the software & updates settings where you can configure your repositories and graphics drivers, etc. Appeared after upgrading Ubuntu from 23.10 to 24.04. It is not exclusive to the lower quarter. What it is is whatever the window's default minimized size and position are. Clicking outside of that, even though the window is maximized, clicks through to whatever is behind it. This includes the desktop, if nothing else is behind it. Trying to resize the window doesn't work because hovering on any of the edges doesn't detect them. Right clicking to resize only allows me to resize horizontally, which doesn't even change the behavior for the resized portion anyway. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to mutter in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2026194 Title: When clicking on some maximized or tiled windows, focus on roughly the lower quarter falls to the window behind To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mutter/+bug/2026194/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 2068850] [NEW] Gnome session crashes when I plug in an external monitor sometimes.
Public bug reported: Sometimes when I plug in an external monitor (HDMI cable), my gnome session crashes. I'm sent to the login screen and when I log in none of the stuff I had open is open any more. The expected behavior is that plugging in a monitor does not crash the session. This doesn't happen every time, but it has happened repeatedly.
