[Bug 2072378] [NEW] GTK4 apps "freezing"/not respecting inputs on touchscreen
Public bug reported: When using GTK4 apps, touching a button using a touchscreen (commonly a dropdown menu or hamburger menu) sometimes causes the button to be highlighted slightly darker as if pressed, but then not do anything (e.g. not open the relevant menu) and leave the button highlighted even when the touch is removed. When this happens, the app seems to ignore most other input, including the mouse. It sometimes ignores clicking the X to close it, does not let you click inside the application, etc. It still properly slightly highlights things as the mouse hovers over them, but does not respond to clicks. Touching elsewhere can sometimes remove or move the highlighting effect, but will generally not. It is sometimes possible to partially recover by for example clicking a different top tab in system monitor, but this does not fully recover and the app still must be closed. In some cases, it responds to a touch on the X (or use of "quit" in the dock) to close it, but not a click on the X. I believe GTK4 is the common thread. Present in ubuntu settings, nautilus, clocks, the Gnome software store (the white one, not the orange snap one), and system monitor, all of which show as using gtk4 with `apt-cache rdepends libgtk-4-1`. Steps to reproduce: Open settings. Navigate to display settings. Using a touchscreen, try to open a dropdown menu. The menu will not open, and will stay highlighted. This is now in the unusual state described. Clicking anywhere in the app, including the X, will mostly not have an effect. The app will ignore some but not all touches. System details: Dell XPS 9365 2-in-1 Intel i7 7y75, 16gb RAM Ubuntu 24.04, fresh installation. ** Affects: gtk4 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Package changed: xserver-xorg-video-amdgpu (Ubuntu) => gtk4 (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gtk4 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2072378 Title: GTK4 apps "freezing"/not respecting inputs on touchscreen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gtk4/+bug/2072378/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 2066902] Re: Night Light occasionally gets stuck
I have installed the mutter package from noble-proposed and rebooted, so I'll be testing it from now on. kevin@arcadia:~$ mutter --version mutter 46.2 Sadly I don't know of any way to manually trigger this bug. Sometimes it doesn't happen for days, and then all of a sudden the colour temperature is stuck again when I unlock my computer in the morning. I haven't discovered any pattern or causality. So I guess the only way to test this is to just wait and see if it doesn't happen any more. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to mutter in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2066902 Title: Night Light occasionally gets stuck To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mutter/+bug/2066902/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 2071938] Re: Simulated holds with Mousekeys: sometimes Gnome becomes unresponsive
In brief: '.' is not enough but '/.*.-.' is. / = ch left * = ch mid - = ch right 5 = click (also cancel) 12346789 = move 0 = hold + = turbo . = cancel , = cancel too? If I do: (move to a resizable window corner) ch right - hold (move to a toolbar icon) ch left - hold then this happens: * the pointer keeps carrying the icon; * windows elements, power-off, shortcuts, ctrl+alt+fN and the real mouse clicks do not work; * not even CANCEL (.,5) by ITSELF works; * ESC drops the icon, otherwise the same. How to escape: ch left - cancel - ch right - cancel So ONE "cancel" press cancels ONE hold. Now I think that I wasn't really stuck, but it is not obvious that one needs to press up to 6 keys (ch left - cancel - ch right - cancel - ch middle - cancel) to escape. Would it be possible to make it easier to escape?
