[Bug 880739] [NEW] changing option "show menubar by default" won't be saved

2011-10-24 Thread Albert Vilella
Public bug reported:

If I choose Edit -> Profile Preferences -> untick "Show menubar by default in
new terminals" -> Close
The menubar will disappear from the current terminal, but if I close it and
reopen a new terminal, it will appear again.
So somehow this change in the profile is not reflected in the newly appearing
terminals, even though if I then go again and try and change the option, it is
unchecked in the options menu.

[Bug 822564] [NEW] 4-pages view for dual screen systems

2011-08-08 Thread Albert Vilella
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I would like to request for a new feature, an extension to the "View -> Dual"
option, to have more than 2 pages in the window.
The rationale is to be able to quickly have a 4-pages view for a dual screen
system, with for example two side-to-side screens that can take 2-pages each.

Please label as 'enhancement',

Cheers

[Bug 627908] [NEW] memory blow out when trying to copy data to Archos 5IT USB harddrive

2010-09-01 Thread Albert Vilella
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gvfs

When I try to copy data from my laptop to an Archos 5 IT, I mount it via
nautilus, and every file I copy seems to get uploaded into memory. After
2-3 300MB files, the system runs out of memory and becomes unresponsive.
Doing a "top" shows a gvfsd-gphoto2 process taking GBs of memory.

This wasn't happening on older versions of Ubuntu, the same device was
shown as a /media/ARCHOS5 device with no memory problems.

[Bug 605803] [NEW] Fn up/down/off keys repeated after next keystroke

2010-07-15 Thread Albert Vilella
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-media

When I use the Fn key in combination with F3 (down), F4 (up) or F5 (on/off),
the volume goes up/down on/off accordingly,
but the next random key I press repeats the command of the volume keys as many
times as consecutively done before.

For example, if I do Fn-F4 twice, the volume goes up twice, and if I
then press any key, it goes up twice again.

[Bug 604700] [NEW] Fn volume up/down/off repeates with next pressed key

2010-07-12 Thread Albert Vilella
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-media

when I use the Fn volume up/down or on/off key combinations, the next random
key I type on the laptop keyboard repeats as many operations as I did before.
For example, typing volume up twice and then pressing Alt, I get two levels up
on
top of the two from the Fn keys after pressing Alt. Only when no external
keyboard
is plugged into the laptop.

Re: [Bug 358547] Re: nautilus overrides focus when swapping between main and secondary screen

2009-05-17 Thread Albert Vilella
yes, it still happens in jaunty, using LiveCD. It's nautilus that is a
problem:

I download 2 images from the web into my Desktop. I open a web browser that
occupies most of the desktop space but where the images are, then
double-click on the first of them, eog stays on top of the browser,
double-click the second one, new eog stays on top of browser and first
image.

Now I open a nautilus window and go to Desktop. Double-click on the first
image, eog stays on top of the browser. Double-click on the second image,
and it's hidden behind the nautilus window.

Re: [Bug 358547] Re: nautilus overrides focus when swapping between main and secondary screen

2009-04-13 Thread Albert Vilella
that's true. It's a lot less complicated than I described: opening 2 files
with eog on the same screen has the same effect.

[Bug 358547] [NEW] nautilus overrides focus when swapping between main and secondary screen

2009-04-09 Thread Albert Vilella
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

A session with an external screen (A) and the laptop screen (B). Open a
nautilus browser window with 3 images in it on screen A. Double-click on
image 1, it correctly opens eog 1 and eog 1 takes focus. Drag nautilus
to screen B. Double-click on image 2, it correctly opens eog 2 and eog 2
takes focus. Drag nautilus back to screen A. Double-click on image 3, it
opens eog 3 but nautilus keeps focus, leaving a blinking eog 3 on the
panel.

Tried /tmp/evil.txt with version 2.24.2-0ubuntu1, it will not open the

unresponsive function controls, then brighten again on it's own without
any sort of user input or after a delay of a few seconds. This is on
different hardware: a Sony Vaio SZ1XP laptop.

[Bug 235754] [NEW] strange glyphs when selecting text

2008-05-29 Thread Albert Vilella
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

Hi,

When I select text in a file that comes from pdflatex, the selected (greyed)
text turns into strange glyphs, a combination
of random uppercase letters and squares.

I can paste the selected text, but it looks ugly (my document is in a
non-english, accentuated language)

This only happens the first type one clicks on it. If you right click
on the right space, and refresh it, then the second time you click on
the tab to expand the window, it works.

Maybe it's a feature but it looks a bit inconsistent.

I use the defaults for edgy. this is a 1280x800 screen, but I am using
a second screen with xinerama. I don't recall this ever happening when
working on a single screen. no transparent panel, no background image,
and not sure about the masking, but I definitely didn't change any of
the defaults that come with Edgy.

2006-09-26 Thread Albert Vilella
Public bug reported:

I was answering a message that contained this, and whilst editing it,
evolution started eating up all the RAM memory. I have the spellcheck
activated to English UK (probably the bug comes from the
spellchecker...):

Content of the email:

-

export TREE=spec.tf4.ens41.nh
export BASENAME=`echo ${TREE%.nh}`
# blank internal nodes
perl -p -e 's/[\w\/]+\-(\d+)/$1/g' $TREE > delete1.txt
# blank completed genomes and move star
perl -p -e 's/\w+\*\-(\d+)/$1\*/g' delete1.txt > delete2.txt
# blank noyet genomes
perl -p -e 's/\w+\-\*(\d+)/\*$1/g' delete2.txt > delete3.txt
# blank common groupings
perl -p -e 's/\.\w+//g' delete3.txt > delete4.txt
# no spaces nor returns
perl -p -e 's/[\s\n]+//g' delete4.txt > $BASENAME.taxon_id.nh
rm delete?.txt

and some other blobs of regular text...

2006-08-31 Thread Albert Vilella
To give a bit more of information: if I disable the POP accounts and
only use my IMAP account, then everything works fine. The problem seems
to arise when browsing through folders and subfolders in the local
Inbox, and trying to send emails from a POP account.

[Bug 49973] gnome 2.14.2 borked my gdm login, menus, etc

2006-06-16 Thread Albert Vilella
Public bug reported:

Hi,

After automatically updating the gnome-related packages available at
13-16 Jun 2006, I have serious problems with gnome:

When I try to login with gdm, the automatic login asks for my password,
and when I enter it, it says is incorrect. Then the gdm menu appears,
and I enter my username and password, and it also fails.

If I do the same in a terminal (Alt+ctrl+F1), with identical username
and password, if works fine. I can start a GUI session with startx, but
then gnome-related apps will fail, like gnome-panel and such.

[Bug 49964] gdm won't recognize my password

2006-06-16 Thread Albert Vilella
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I updated Dapper with the mew packages available for at 16 Jun 2006 (or
possibly 15th), and now gdm won't let me in, saying that my password is
incorrect.

If I do an Alt+Ctrl+F1 and enter the same username and password in
terminal mode, it works fine. I can "/etc/init.d/gdm stop" and "startx"
from there, and then everything seems normal.

Is anything borked with gnome-related updates of the aforementioned
date?

my version is:

gdm - 2.14.7-0ubuntu
libgnome2-0 - 2.14.1-0ubuntu

If now I try to run
System->Administration->Login Window
or
System->Preferences->Sessions
or
System->Administration->Update Manager

nothing shows up.

Any other info that I can provide?
