Just to confirm that Ilya's patch from comment 45 completely fixes the problem without any noticeable side-effects. Is this now solved? Yes, also some Emacs shortcuts were affected by this bug (e.g. M-> and M-<) and now work fine. I really hope this patch gets committed, the keyboard input *is* broken without it for users who use multiple keyboard layouts.
