I strongly suspect this is a unity bug and not an empathy one, I've had the same thing, and then the window has appeared after I for example switch workspace. Sending a NOOP on the connection is such a small fix that this could almost be considered a breadcrumb. And I've also seen the 0byte file problem. It does not happen using gedit (using gvfs), but it does happen using geany (using plain fuse). Steps to reproduce : Send a swedish/norwegian character (I imagine a lot of others are also affected, but to be safe use one of those) What I think should be happening : The message sent rather than an error. And this isn't a crash so you dont get a backtrace. what is gamin being replaced with? Fam? Using ktorrent and tracker at the same time my cpu usage with gamin stayed low, but it was using over 1gb memory.
