[Bug 3226] Re: Evolution should use GtkAboutDialog

2006-04-27 Thread Andy Price
A quick flick through the Gnome HIG[1] tells me that there isn't a standard
icon for the credits button. Although, I just looked at about fifteen About
boxes from different applications and the majority of them (mainly
Gnome-intrinsic ones) used the icon with four stars. Evolution seems to be out
of the ordinary in that respect. Of course, other apps have no standard at all
and all have their own About boxes e.g. firefox, gaim, xchat etc.

Conclusion: evolution is bucking a Gnome application trend by only having one
star on its About box credits button (therefore I'm confirming this bug) but if
you consider all of Ubuntu's packaged apps , it's just another different
looking About box.

[Bug 40923] Re: GNOME panel crash/segfault on logout

2006-04-27 Thread Andy Price
Thanks for your bug report. I've tried this on an up-to-date dapper i386
install a few times but I can't reproduce the bug. I checked that the .gnomerc
and core dump format settings had applied properly and installed packages so
that as many of the programs listed in your scripts were on my system as
possible but no luck.

Is the bug still present after updating your system? If so, is it possible to
simplify the test down and still produce the same results (e.g. only running
the programs that you get the core dumps for)?

[Bug 38144] "Highlight pointer when you press control" option breaks firefox cut/copy by keyboard.

2006-05-09 Thread Andy Price
Public bug reported:

Affects: gnome-desktop (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
Using an up-to-date dapper i368 install, when using the "Highlight
pointer when you press control" option in the mouse preferences, you
cannot use Ctrl-c to copy or Ctrl-x to cut a substring from the address
box or the google search text box in firefox.

Steps to reproduce:
1) Click on System->Preferences->Mouse->Pointers tab
2) Enable "Hilight pointer when you press control" option
3) Run firefox and enter text in the address box
4) Select a subsection of the text with cursor or shift+arrow keys
5) Press Ctrl-c or Ctrl-x

Expected results:
1) The selected text should be copied or cut to the clipboard

Actual Results:
1) The cursor is hilighted due to Ctrl being pressed
2.a) With Ctrl-c the whole of the text in the box is copied to the clipboard
instead of just the selected part.
2.b) With Ctrl-x the whole of the text in the box is cut to the clipboard
instead of just the selected part.

Further observation:
Text box widgets in form elements on web pages don't show the same buggy
behaviour as the address box and google search box.
Other applications (e.g. gedit) don't seem to show the bug.

[Bug 45336] gok's applications menu entry does not get removed on uninstall

2006-05-17 Thread Andy Price
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:
1) sudo apt-get install gok
2) Note the "On-Screen Keyboard" menu entry in the Applications ->
Accessibility menu
3) sudo apt-get remove gok
4) Look for the menu entry again

Actual results:
- "On-Screen Keyboard" menu entry is still in the Accessibility menu
- The icon has changed to the default icon that gets used when icons aren't
found

Expected results:
- The "On-Screen Keyboard" menu entry disappears
- If gok is the last accessibility application left, the Accessibility menu is
expected to disappear too

Further info:
- Using apt-get --purge remove gok yields the same results

If this turns out to be a notabug, could you tell me how to remove this
menu item manually, thanks :)

[Bug 214978] Re: totem hangs when playing incomplete .ogg second

2008-04-10 Thread Andy Price
I can confirm this on an up-to-date amd64 hardy install. One bit of
detail is missing from the report (for me, anyway): After step 2 the
multi.ogg file plays and stops very soon but totem doesn't seem to think
it has stopped and continues showing the pause button instead of the
play button. After that point, dragging any file - even an empty file -
onto the totem window makes it become unresponsive.

[Bug 56159] Cannot burn CDs using nautilus in edgy

2006-08-12 Thread Andy Price
Public bug reported:

When trying to burn CDs using the nautilus CD burner in an up-to-date
Edgy, it gives an error and does not burn anything to the CD. The error
does not occur in Ubuntu 6.06 LTS.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Insert a blank CD
2. Open nautilus and drag some files over to the blank CD
3. Browse into the blank CD (CD creator) in nautilus and click on "Write to
disc"
4. Select the CD drive to use and click on write
5. Watch and wait

Expected results:
1. The nautilus CD burner creates/prepares the CD image
2. The CD image is written to the blank CD

Actual results:
1. The nautilus CD burner creates/prepares the CD image (as expected)
2. An error dialog pops up saying there was an error writing to CD. It doesn't
give any detail about the nature of the error.

Output of "dmesg | grep CD":
[ 27.537152] hdc: LITE-ON LTR-48125S, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive
[ 28.022047] hdc: ATAPI 48X CD-ROM CD-R/RW drive, 2048kB Cache, UDMA(33)
[ 28.022056] Uniform CD-ROM driver Revision: 3.20

More info:
- After seeing this bug occur I rebooted into Ubuntu 6.06 on the same machine
and tried writing the same file to CD using the same method and it worked.

- I've been working on a program in python using nautilusburn which is
coming up with inexplicable errors at the same point as nautilus-cd-
burner on edgy. This leads me to suspect the problem is in a library
that both the nautilusburn python library and nautilus-cd-burner share.

- When the CD image is being created, the "time left" in the progress
bar is reported wrongly (looks like it adds an hour on). This is
probably unrelated and I might open another bug for this.

[Bug 34243] .ico associated with eog but eog can't display them

2006-03-09 Thread Andy Price
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/34243

Affects: eog (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

When trying to open .ico files with eog, which is associated with the
.ico file type, eog crashes.

[Bug 34344] Find should be Search in gthumb

2006-03-10 Thread Andy Price
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/34344

Affects: gthumb (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
In gthumb on an up-to-date Dapper install, the Edit->Find menu item is
not labeled Edit->Search as recommended in the GNOME Human Interface
Guidelines. See http://developer.gnome.org/projects/gup/hig/2.0/menus-
standard.html#menu-standard-edit for reference (Table 4.8):

"If the command allows the user to search for content in places other
than the current document, for example other open documents, other
documents on disk, or a remote network location, label this item Search
instead of Find."

Steps to reproduce:
1) Open gthumb
2) Click on the Edit menu
3) Click on the Find menu item in the Edit menu

Actual Results:
1) In the Edit menu there is a Find menu item which has a Ctrl+F shortcut
2) The dialog that opens when you click on Find is entitled Find but the rest
of the dialog refers to "search"ing

Expected results:
1) The Edit menu should have a menu item called Search
2) The Search item should have a more intuitive keyboard shortcut than Ctrl+F
since Search begins with S
3) The "Find" dialog should be entitled "Search"

[Bug 35107] gnibbles has no documentation about playing network games

2006-03-15 Thread Andy Price
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/35107

Affects: gnome-games (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
The yelp documentation for gnibbles 2.14.0 on an up-to-date dapper
install does not mention the network game feature of gnibbles.

Steps to reproduce:
1) Run gnibbles
2) Click on Help->Contents
3) Read through the documentation

Expected results:
1) There should be some explanation and guidance about how to start a network
game (which is done by File->New Network Game)

Actual results:
1) No documentation is found regarding gnibbles network gaming or the menu
entry File->New Network Game

[Bug 35109] gnibbles documentation has broken web link

2006-03-15 Thread Andy Price
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/35109

Affects: gnome-games (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
The Authors section of the yelp documentation for gnibbles has a broken
link to http://www.gnome.org/gdp/doctable/ (which redirects to
http://canvas.gnome.org:65348/gdp/doctable/ which cannot be found)

Steps to reproduce:
1) Open gnibbles' documentation by running gnibbles and clicking Help->Contents
2) Click on the Authors section
3) Click on the link entitled "GNOME Documentation Status Table" (which is at
the end of the article)

Expected results:
1) Browser window should open showing a page about the "GNOME Documentation
Status Table" where I can add comments about the gnibbles documentation.

Actual results:
1) Browser window opens showing an "Unknown Host" error

Other observations:
1) The link _should_ probably point at
http://developer.gnome.org/projects/gdp/doctable/ instead although this page
looks to be in a state of change at the moment by the GDP.

2007-05-27 Thread Andy Price
OK sorry about that Sebastien. I couldn't find any docs about what it
requires so I thought I'd just try it.

Also I've reported this bug in the gnome bugzilla and linked this bug to
it. I hope I've done it right, the interface is very
confusing/uninformative.

[Bug 91085] Re: Starting gimp casues metacity warnings

2007-03-12 Thread Andy Price
I can confirm this behaviour on an up to date feisty. Additionally, it
only happens when you launch gimp from a terminal or the "run
application" tool. Presumably this is because using the Gimp menu item
launches "gimp-remote-2.2 %U" and not just "gimp":

Window manager warning: Buggy client sent a _NET_ACTIVE_WINDOW message with a
timestamp of 0 for 0x2c025d7 (The GIMP)
Window manager warning: meta_window_activate called by a pager with a 0
timestamp; the pager needs to be fixed.
