[Bug 44339] Re: Regression in usplash artwork

2006-05-14 Thread Athurva Gore
The minimalistic theme looks amazing. I think that should be the
default as well, maybe with a message saying "Press CTRL-ALT-F# to see
details" or something like that.

If not that, the old one should be brought back; the new one looks
terrible IMO.

There's a poll in the forums about it now as well, and the majority of people
that have voted so far want the old one back.

[Bug 40339] Re: Gthumb crashes when entering fullscreen

2006-04-20 Thread Athurva Gore
The upstream bug number was #336851.

No offense intended by saying Dapper didn't package the release; I know version
freezes are a good thing. :-) I wasn't sure if the new version would be
pacakged, or if the patch would simply be added to the current version, though,
so I gave as much info as possible.

[Bug 40339] Gthumb crashes when entering fullscreen

2006-04-20 Thread Athurva Gore
Public bug reported:

Affects: gthumb (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
The latest gthumb in Ubuntu Dapper crashes if the user attempts to enter
fullscreen mode. This has been fixed upstream in a new release; Dapper
does not package this release, however.

[Bug 3642] Re: Suspend does nothing

2006-04-19 Thread Athurva Gore
Could this be related to the 'gdm' user not having priviledges to suspend or
hibernate, perhaps? I'm not sure...

In any case, can we temporarily remove suspend and hibernate from the GDM menu?

[Bug 35043] Re: session saving not enabled by default in Dapper

2006-04-06 Thread Athurva Gore
I like the current system as well (not saving session). Sometimes, if
something goes wrong with tinkering, you want a clean GNOME to start up in, and
using the "failsafe" option and then finding and deleting your session is just
a pain.

Also, most people expect that if they log out of their computer, it will not
save what they have done. "Switch User" is there for that. Perhaps the log
out dialog text could be modified based on if the user has elected to save
their session or not? Maybe the first time a user logs out, ask them their
preference?

[Bug 17970] Re: gtk-update-icon-cache not run

2006-03-31 Thread Athurva Gore
Does anyone know what the status of this bug is? From what I understand, this
would fix the loading times of icons in a lot of menus, speeding up a lot of
older computers by a lot...
