[Bug 38835] Notification message shows up on the opposite side of the screen

2006-04-09 Thread Baishampayan Ghose
Public bug reported:

Affects: gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
Sometimes, when the AC adaptor is unplugged the GPM notification shows up on
the left corner of the screen. This is pretty weird as the applet itself is on
the right side of the panel.
Screenshot attached.

2006-03-17 Thread Baishampayan Ghose
Public bug report changed:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/32685

Comment:
Heh, I saw that the patch was wrong :) What do you suggest then Daniel, should
we bring up all the variants on the root layout?
Instead of having something like this --
India
  Bengali
  Bengali Probhat
  Guajarati
...
we can have something like --
Bengali
  Bengali Probhat
Devanagari
Guajarati
...

What do you think?

[Bug 32685] no devanagari in keyboard indicator applet

2006-03-17 Thread Baishampayan Ghose
Public bug report changed:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/32685

Comment:
Daniel, so in that case, I would recommend that we put all the Indian
languages as root nodes instead of leaves, until this issue is solved.
So we get something like --

Bengali
Bengali Probhat
Devanarari
Gujarati
...

What do you say?

2006-03-17 Thread Baishampayan Ghose
Public bug report changed:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/32685

Comment:
Daniel, well I meant `root' nodes, but I guess it will become too much
of a hack. So can we just place `Devanagari' as a child of India?
Something like --

India
  Bengali
  Bengali Probhat
  Devanagari
  Gujarati
...
If this is possible, I guess we should go with that.

Comment:
Daniel,
in this case, it might well be desirable to have devengari as a child
  itself. maybe 'Devengari (default)'?
Yes, I guess that's much better. If you tell me which files I have to
modify, then I can provide a patch for that.

[Bug 32286] Gnome panel is gone - GConf problem?

2006-03-17 Thread Baishampayan Ghose
Public bug report changed:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/32286

Task: ubuntu gnome-panel
 Status: Needs Info = Confirmed

Comment:
Even I am getting this problem today. I am on the latest Dapper. The panel
works just fine for other users. The top panel with the menubar and applets
seem to be hung as I don't see any of the applets and clicking on the menubar
doesn't yield any results.
$ ps ax | grep panel shows this --
 6094 ?Ssl0:01 gnome-panel --sm-client-id
11c0a8016400011426569630056860009 --screen 0
 6098 ?S 0:02 /usr/lib/gnome-panel/wnck-applet
--oaf-activate-iid=OAFIID:GNOME_Wncklet_Factory --oaf-ior-fd=43
 6107 ?S 0:00 /usr/lib/gnome-panel/notification-area-applet
--oaf-activate-iid=OAFIID:GNOME_NotificationAreaApplet_Factory --oaf-ior-fd=50

Looks like they are hung badly.
I am also attaching my ~/.gconfd

[Bug 32685] no devanagari in keyboard indicator applet

2006-03-02 Thread Baishampayan Ghose
Public bug report changed:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/32685

Comment:
Heh, I _never_ knew it had the devnagarii keymaps ... this is a very stupid
design. In a tree widget, nobody will choose the root of the tree, only the
nodes. The Devnagarii keymap is under the `India' text which is the root of the
tree widget, while other languages like Bengali, Malayalam etc. are in the leaf
nodes.
I am attaching a screenshot to explain it in a better way.
