[Bug 404219] Re: Touchpad Tap Clicking Broken (scrolling also)

2009-09-15 Thread Ben Aultowski
While stardust85 might should considered wording his reply differently,
disabling clicking with the touchpad by default is a *very strange*
choice. I also installed Karmic Alpha 5, and was baffled that a
functionality that works in every other operating system, and every
previous release of Ubuntu, was suddenly broken. Heck, it took me a
minute realize I should even *try* the buttons below my touchpad. I
assumed it was a bug, and after searching, found this report.

[Bug 205772] [NEW] Brasero Fails to Burn Disc

2008-03-23 Thread Ben Aultowski
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: brasero

Brasero often fails to burn an ISO image, claiming that the CD-R is not
blank or doesn't have enough space. Burning the ISO with cdrecord works
fine.

[Bug 202648] [NEW] The Quit Dialog Fails to Appear

2008-03-15 Thread Ben Aultowski
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-session

I'm running Hardy.

Going to System/Quit in Gnome causes gnome-panel to lock up and the Quit
dialog fails to appear. Running gnome-session-save --kill manually
results in this error:

.gtkrc-2.0:2: error: scanner: unterminated string constant - e.g.
`style'

If you leave it alone long enought (~3 minutes) the dialog may sometimes
appear.

** Affects: gnome-session (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 74002] Re: [Feisty] File Roller's Extract button no longer functions

2007-01-03 Thread Ben Aultowski
Yup, it's still broken. The command line shows nothing. I tried running
strace, but it's hard to find the relevant part since file-roller is
running some function called gettimeofday() every millisecond and
polling something (dbus? ionotify?) constantly.

I hit Extract and killed file-roller as quickly as possible. Scrolling
through the output, this was the last thing that wasn't one of the two
loops mentioned above:

open(/usr/share/file-roller/icons/hicolor/24x24/actions/extract-archive.png,
O_RDONLY|O_LARGEFILE) = 17
fstat64(17, {st_mode=S_IFREG|0644, st_size=1107, ...}) = 0
mmap2(NULL, 4096, PROT_READ|PROT_WRITE, MAP_PRIVATE|MAP_ANONYMOUS, -1, 0) =
0xb6e2e000
read(17, \211PNG\r\n\32\n\0\0\0\rIHDR\0\0\0\30\0\0\0\30\10\6\0\0..., 4096) =
1107
_llseek(17, 0, [0], SEEK_SET) = 0
read(17, \211PNG\r\n\32\n\0\0\0\rIHDR\0\0\0\30\0\0\0\30\10\6\0\0..., 4096) =

close(17) = 0
munmap(0xb6e2e000, 4096)= 0
write(3, \226\7\2\0\2\300\3\226\7\2\0\3\300\0036\4\2\0\1\300..., 768) = 768

[Bug 74002] Re: [Feisty] File Roller's Extract button no longer functions

2006-12-03 Thread Ben Aultowski
It doesn't work for ~any~ file; ZIP, RAR, etc.

I should add that the Extract button in the top toolbar works fine.
It's the Extract button in the dialog box asking where you'd like to
extract the file that's broken.

This isn't a crash, but would an strace or something similar help?

[Bug 74002] [Feisty] File Roller's Extract button no longer functions

2006-11-30 Thread Ben Aultowski
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: file-roller

File Roller will not extract files in Feisty when the user selects the
Extract button. No error messages are displayed, almost as if the
button isn't hooked up to the program. Files can still be extracted
with File Roller by right-clicking an archive in Nautilus and selecting
Extract Here.

[Bug 34276] If GLSlideshow is inherently broken, then remove it.

2006-03-09 Thread Ben Aultowski
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/34276

Affects: gnome-screensaver (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
There is currently no way to configure the GLSlideshow screensaver to
display ~any~ pictures with gnome-screensaver. I'm not a fan of the
anything that requires configuration is inherently broken mantra. But
if you can't manually move/link your pictures to a directory GLSlideshow
will recognize, then isn't it broken, too?

It took me half an hour to realize that we have to use the Pictures
gallery screensaver instead of GLSlideshow to get any image to display
in a screensaver.
