I see this issue, too (12.04.4 and Lenovo T420). After the gnome- settings update the volume keys stopped working. The logs show no warning and error messages... Public bug reported: Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Severity: Normal Priority: (none set) Status: Unconfirmed Description: make jpg File of the dimension 6556x99 Pixels and place ist in the directory ~/Templates. If you restart nautilus, it will eat up all CPU. Actually the thumbnail of the JPG is shown correctly if it's in another directory ! Copying the JPG File to the directory ~/Templates results also in eating 100% CPU after copying the file (But copy File to another locations works perfectly !) This did not happen in Ubuntu Breezy but happens in dapper (upgraded from breezy). I could reproduce this behaviour on a colleagues laptop (Ubuntu dapper also). Nautilus is Version 2.14.0, in Ubuntu dapper System which is up to date.
