As a patch, is there way that the "r" command could be automatically issued at the end of the boot sequence? I briefly tried to get that to work, but didn't have any luck. Another lazy way around this is to do Alt-F2, then type in R. Might be easier than creating a folder then deleting it. I enabled it and no icons appeared on the desktop.
