[Bug 1588500] Re: Applications with permission for location claim they don't

2016-06-02 Thread Bob Harvey
Tried the metvoffice example in Firefox.. Had to grant 'always'
permission in the dialogue, but then it worked.. Going back to the app
permissions for location I could not find Firefox listed.

[Bug 1588500] [NEW] Applications with permission for location claim they don't

2016-06-02 Thread Bob Harvey
Public bug reported:

OTA11 - same problem on BQ4.5phone & M10 tablet.

Hurray! Location works on the tablet at last.. HERE maps can get a
position.

But I can't use the location in the browser or a browser-like web app..
It used to work on the phone in OTA10.1

[Bug 1573168] Re: [Frieza] Location service fails to start cleanly, entering restart loop

2016-04-25 Thread Bob Harvey
Also odd.
My phone (BQ 4.5) has never done this. It, too, has been upgraded to OTA 10.1
. It currently works fine, with a gps position, and mapping apps can display a
location.

2016-04-25 Thread Bob Harvey
OK, that's weird. My M10 tablet has stopped doing thatthung that's in the gif.
it was flickering away before I powered it down, and when I powered up - no
flickering.. I did two things before powering down that might have affected it
* I switched to 'gps only'
* I logged into HERE maps

The 'location' indicator is now off, and there is no gps position..

[Bug 1573168] Re: [Frieza] Location service fails to start cleanly, entering restart loop

2016-04-24 Thread Bob Harvey
I have the M10 tablet on OTA10.1. The Location indicator is blinking on
and off, making the mail indicator shift from left to right.

If I pull down the 'notifications curtain' for the location, the slide
switch and legend for 'location detection' are blinking too.

I installed the SensorStatus app and that shows no values at all for GPS
results. There does not appear to be any way to display satellite lock,
constalation, or ephemeris age.

Here Maps reports 'Can't find your location' ; uNav says 'GPS denied';
those seem to be different to what Llamas.JM reported in comment 8.
Much more like Sergi reports in comemnt 5,7

The tablet was delivered with OTA9.5 and location services worked before
I applied the update.

[Bug 691705] [NEW] Rhythmbox controls invalid when playing .asx stream

2010-12-17 Thread Bob Harvey
Public bug reported:

Using Rhythmbox 0.12.8 on Ubuntu Netbook Remix 10.04

When I play BBC streams such as
# http://bbc.co.uk/radio/listen/live/r4.asx
# http://bbc.co.uk/radio/listen/live/r4lw.asx
# http://bbc.co.uk/radio/listen/live/r5l.asx
 the control gets confused.

If I double-click the item in the list I get a green arrowhead in the
list, but the play/pause control is still a green triangle saying play.
it's tooltip, however, says 'stop playback'. If I click on it it looks
exactly the same but 'not playing' appears underneath and the green
arrow in the list vanishes.

You can't restart with the play/pause control, you have to reselect from
the list.

It's all very confusing. it doesn;t work the way I would expect.

Sometimes the stream doesn't start, it goes straight to pause, and I
have no idea what is going on.

I would expect selecting the stream to initialise the control panel, and
the start/pause button to stop/start playing. I don't care whether it
restarts from the buffer, or restarts live, as long as I can see what is
going on.

Not sure if this is my problem or not.

I have a UK keyboard, and everything was fine until my most recent

shifted-2, not ") even though I still have the UK keyboard selected

[Bug 163848] Re: default session changes when gnome-session is updated

2008-09-21 Thread Bob Harvey
>Is this reproducible?
who knows? I am not responsible for what goes in an update manager session. I
cannot attempt to reproduce it. I did ask if any useful logs were wanted at
the time, but no-one replied so that is an opportunity lost.

As it happened, after an update to 8.04, the xfce option vanished from
GDM, and I have not re-installed it.

[Bug 163848] Re: default session changes when gnome-session is updated

2007-12-02 Thread Bob Harvey
This happened to me last night. I am running 7.10 and have various
desktops installed with Gnome as the default. I do not use Mythbuntu.

I allowed an automated update manager update to complete, then shut the machine
down. When I started again GDM logged me into XFCE instead, it being the
first one on the list. I had to log out and force a gnome session.
I have been unable to find a log of what was updated, if someone can suggest
anything I will attach it.
