[Bug 933619] [NEW] Environment variable defaults are not updated when Network Proxy settings change
Public bug reported: When network proxy settings change, the default values of http_proxy, ftp_proxy, and https_proxy are not updated. New terminal sessions still have the old proxy settings. To work around this, I have to manually unset the variables every time I start a new terminal session. To repro: * Change Method from Manual to None in the Network proxy tab of the Network settings app. * Click Apply system wide. * Open a new terminal window. $ env | grep -i proxy http_proxy=http://proxy.vmware.com:3128/ ftp_proxy=ftp://proxy.vmware.com:3128/ UBUNTU_MENUPROXY=libappmenu.so https_proxy=https://proxy.vmware.com:3128/ ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10 Package: gnome-terminal 3.0.1-0ubuntu3 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.0.0-15.26-generic 3.0.13 Uname: Linux 3.0.0-15-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia ApportVersion: 1.23-0ubuntu4 Architecture: amd64 Date: Thu Feb 16 09:09:03 2012 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot - Release amd64 (20111012) ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, user) LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: gnome-terminal UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: gnome-terminal (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug oneiric running-unity -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-terminal in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/933619 Title: Environment variable defaults are not updated when Network Proxy settings change To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-terminal/+bug/933619/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 400973] Re: Waiting for sound system to respond
I just hit a related issue when moving my home directory from one system to another. After moving the data from my home directory (including ~/.pulse), the sound applet stopped responding. On startup, it would say Waiting for sound system to respond. After deleting ~/.pulse and rebooting, the problem went away. PulseAudio should be more forgiving in this case, since it's common to copy user preferences from one account to another. If this is a separate bug, let me know and I'll file it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-media in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/400973 Title: Waiting for sound system to respond -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 530207] [NEW] foomatic-rip pegs the CPU when printing PDF file
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evince When I print the KQED program guide from March, 2010, the printing process hangs. I did some troubleshooting and found out that pages 1-7 print just fine, but page 8 causes foomatic-rip to use 100% CPU. [Bug 373477] Re: Can't save files to Samba (cifs) shares because they report 0 bytes free
Even better: Nautilus' own CD copy feature won't work with ~/.gvfs: * Go to Computer * Right click on the CD icon * Choose Copy Disc... * Click Write * Notice that the mounts are not displayed under Places * Type the path under ~/.gvfs in the Name text box * Hit OK A dialog pops up: File image creation failed. [Bug 373477] Re: Can't save files to Samba (cifs) shares because they report 0 bytes free
I hit this problem too. When DVD Decrypter tries to write to my NAS share via ~/.gvfs, it keeps complaining that there's no space available. If I mount the share with mount -t cifs, DVD Decrypter detects the amount of free space correctly. It is possible to copy files via ~/.gvfs, but this bug should be fixed, so that applications can correctly determine the amount of free space on the shared filesystem. -- Can't save files to Samba (cifs) shares because they report 0 bytes free https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/373477 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 95853] Re: Delete file in Nautlus - no warning
Another vote for this one. I'm a pretty advanced user, and spent 5 minutes today looking for files that disappeared after I misclicked. Nautilus should definitely offer the option to confirm before moving or deleting. Displaying the details of the operation in the status bar would also be helpful (moved/deleted these files from dir1 to dir2). -- Delete file in Nautlus - no warning https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/95853 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
