[Bug 762918] Re: Natty Screensaver freezes system after some period of inactivity
It could be that I am hit by some other problem, but most of the symptoms seem to be the same. My experience is that Unity freezes even when "Blank screen" is selected as screensaver. Whenever the freeze hits I switch to a terminal with Ctrl-Alt-F1, log in and then issue the following commands: sudo killall -w -s KILL compiz DISPLAY=:0.0 compiz --replace and switch back to X with Ctrl-Alt-F7 and see Compiz restarting. Sometimes I need to repeat this two or three times in a row to succeed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-screensaver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/762918 Title: Natty Screensaver freezes system after some period of inactivity -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 197762] Re: file transfers on USB disk are very slow
I have done some quick testing. I formatted my Kingston DataTraveler G2 16GB drive as a FAT32, FAT32 (lba), EXT2, EXT3 disk one at a time and tried copying over a file little over 1GB in size. I monitored the actual disk operations with dstat. What I have found is that the first 100 - 200MB for which the copying speed is normal, does not actually get written to the disk. Up to the point when Nautilus reports that 100 - 200MB is copied, dstat shows that no writing takes place - which is (let's say) OK, because of the caching. After this the operation starts to slow down and at this same time data start to get written to the disk but with an incredibly slow pace (< 100KB/s). If I do not cancel the operation Nautilus starts to become unresponsive (dims out then back in - because of compiz). [Bug 453788] [NEW] Brasero doesn't remember the width of the places list in the sidepane
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: brasero Every time I start Brasero, in the file browser sidepane is divided equally between the places list and the file-list. It does not save their manually adjusted widths. ProblemType: Bug Architecture: amd64 Date: Sat Oct 17 12:16:26 2009 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10 Package: brasero 2.28.1-0ubuntu1 ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, user) LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.31-14.48-generic SourcePackage: brasero Uname: Linux 2.6.31-14-generic x86_64 ** Affects: brasero (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug -- Brasero doesn't remember the width of the places list in the sidepane https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/453788 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to brasero in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 449737] [NEW] Brasero wouldn't let me rename files by pasting the new name
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: brasero I occasionaly burn video files along with a subtitle file to a rewritable dvd so that I can watch it using a DVD player. For the DVD player to recognise and load the subtitle file it must be similarly named. Only the extension must differ. For example if I have a video file named xyz-abc-123.avi then the subtitle file must be named xyz-abc-123.srt. The subtitle file usually has a different name, so I have to rename it. Simple logic dictates that I press F2 or right-click on an avi file and select rename, then select the filename without the extension and hit ctrl-c to copy it. I then do the same for the subtitle file, but instead of copying I hit ctrl-v to paste the previously copied text over the selected text. What happens is Brasero pops up a dialog saying: "xyz-abc-123" cannot be added to the selection. It does not exist at the specified location. What should happen: The subtitle file should be renamed to xyz-abc-123.srt ProblemType: Bug Architecture: amd64 Date: Mon Oct 12 21:00:12 2009 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10 Package: brasero 2.28.1-0ubuntu1 ProcEnviron: LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.31-13.44-generic SourcePackage: brasero Uname: Linux 2.6.31-13-generic x86_64 ** Affects: brasero (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug -- Brasero wouldn't let me rename files by pasting the new name https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/449737 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to brasero in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 346489] [NEW] [brasero] Progress bar stays on 0% even after the burning begins
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: brasero When starting to burn a disk, for a while the progress bar shows the progress correctly, but after a while, it changes to 0% and stays like that for the rest of the process. It looks exactly like when I start the burn process and Brasero did not yet calculated the remaining time, and progress bar is at 0%. This happens also when the icons are locked. I'm using Jaunty Alpha 6. [Bug 335617] Re: Empty trash button in Nautilus disabled
Is it reproducible? I did not found out yet an exact way to reproduce the bug, but it happens quite often. Of course, after moving some file to the trash. There is, however, one other thing which might deserve its own bug report, but maybe it is also related to this. After I delete some file from the desktop, either using the Move to trash menu command or simply pressing the Delete key, the file gets in the trash, but the trash applet does not change its appearance to signal that it is not empty anymore. What Ubuntu version do you use? I use Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid Ibex), all updates applied.
