[Bug 1825710] Re: Remove "Application is ready" notification
I will add that when I see this in Pidgin, it leads me to believe someone has highlighted me, but no, no one has and I just spent some time context switching. And this keeps happening over and over again... @dean, indeed, but Pidgin is wasting lots of my time with this nonsense:) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1825710 Title: Remove "Application is ready" notification To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-shell/+bug/1825710/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1825710] Re: Remove "Application is ready" notification
I'll add that since updating from 18.04 to 20.04, Pidgin has been doing this very consistently. Whenever I have Pidgin focused and then switch focus to another window, some time later, I get a notification saying: Pidgin Internet Messenger "#foo" is ready where #foo is the name of the last chat tab I had focused with Pidgin. This "new" behavior is atrocious. I'm not sure what changed in Pidgin and/or Gnome, but this is a terrible user experience. [Bug 1273380] [NEW] gtk.gdk.Window.get_origin() returns 3 values instead of the documented 2-tuple
Public bug reported: When calling gtk.gdk.Window.get_origin(), it returns 3 values instead of the documented 2-tuple of the x y origin of the window. I'm not sure if the 3 values is intended and the documentation is wrong or if this is truly a bug. Here is a simple way to reproduce. 1. Open a new window such as gedit. 2. Get the xid (Window id) for the window using a tool such as xwininfo. 3. Start a python shell. 4. Then in the python shell, enter this: from gi.repository import Gdk, GdkX11 GdkX11.X11Window.foreign_new_for_display(Gdk.Display().get_default(), xid).get_origin() where xid is the xid obtained in step 2. You will observe the output has 3 values looking something like this: (1, 66, 262) I'm not sure what the first value is, but the second and third represent the x and y origin of the window. ** Affects: pygtk (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to pygtk in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1273380 Title: gtk.gdk.Window.get_origin() returns 3 values instead of the documented 2-tuple To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pygtk/+bug/1273380/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Hopefully they will be accepted soon and then we can get them into Ubuntu. ** Also affects: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Bug watch added: freedesktop.org Bugzilla #71762 https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=71762 ** Also affects: xorg-server via https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=71762 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Changed in: gtk+3.0 (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged = Fix Released ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Status: New = Triaged ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gtk+3.0 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1200829 Title: Regression: Enabling typical bindings in Desktop-based Viewport Switching breaks scrollwheel scrolling in some windows with a usb mouse on a laptop To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz/+bug/1200829/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 890747] Re: Keyboard shortcut - Ctrl Alt Del doesn't do what most people typing it would expect
Admittedly, my solution was a bit lacking for a couple of reasons. 1. The new shortcut to bring up gnome-system-monitor -p was not present in System Settings-Keyboard-Shortcuts. 2. The old shortcut in Keyboard shortcuts to use Ctrl-Alt-Delete to Log out was still present. This probably causes confusion for users and is kind of a bad design. So I'm going to fix this for at least Trusty. I will make a new shortcut in Keyboard-Shortcuts that sets Ctrl-Alt-Del to open gnome-system-monitor -p. I will also set Log out to Disabled. This way, it is clear to the end user what is going on here and is also quite easy to set Ctrl-Alt-Delete back to Log out or something else entirely. What I need to do is ask Design which heading they want the new shortcut to be under and what they want the wording to say. ** Changed in: compiz Status: Fix Committed = In Progress ** Changed in: compiz (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Released = In Progress -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/890747 Title: Keyboard shortcut - Ctrl Alt Del doesn't do what most people typing it would expect To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/890747/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 890747] Re: Keyboard shortcut - Ctrl Alt Del doesn't do what most people typing it would expect
Something has changed in which Ctrl-Alt-Del can no longer be overridden by the Compiz Commands plugin, so bringing up the Gnome System Monitor at the processes tab using Ctrl-Alt-Del doesn't work anymore and instead the logout/lock dialog is brought up. [Bug 1186666] Re: Unable to save mouse speed setting
This bug has been bothering the heck out of me since I got a new mouse. I saw that it is fixed in Saucy and who knows if and when the fix will be SRU'd to Raring. So I backported the fix from Saucy into Raring and put it in my PPA. [Bug 536766] Re: Personal file sharing preferences dialog does not offer to install needed packages
This is a rather old bug, but I have been tasked to look into this for 13.10. This bug has mixed in a couple of issues over time. Here is what I believe is the current state and what this bug should really be about. - The bug title references only Personal File Sharing Preferences, but description also references Nautilus as well. I think this bug should only be used to track the issue in Personal File Sharing Preferences. - The Desired resolution posted by Design (John Lea) in the bug description is for Nautilus, but now Nautilus will prompt the user to install needed services when trying to use file sharing. What is in Nautilus now is quite nice, so I'll follow up with John on this. - Back to Personal File Sharing Preferences. Currently (13.10), it still only gives the message that required packages are missing and gives no clue as to what packages are needed or even better, offer to install the needed packages. The needed package is apache2 (and dependencies) because Bluez uses WebDAV to transfer files and WebDAV is provided by apache2. I'm not sure who is responsible for gnome-user-share in Ubuntu, so I'll try poking around to see what can be done about Personal File Sharing Preferences. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-user-share in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/536766 Title: Personal file sharing preferences dialog does not offer to install needed packages To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/536766/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
