[Bug 621536] Re: nautilus crashed with SIGSEGV in g_object_set()

2010-09-20 Thread Cody Russell
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 609390 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/609390

That apport report contains the following GTK+ packages:

libgtk2.0-common: installed version 2.21.6-1ubuntu1, latest version:
2.21.7-1ubuntu1

This bug looks like a duplicate of bug #609390 as Pedro said, and that
was fixed.  From the changelog:

gtk+2.0 (2.21.6-1ubuntu2) maverick; urgency=low

  * debian/patches/043_ubuntu_menu_proxy.patch:
- update by Cody Russell to fix a crash issue (lp: #609390)

I'm going to close this bug.

[Bug 448084] Re: gnome-panel crashed with SIGSEGV in gtk_widget_show()

Okay, something is b0rked in the Launchpad merge request. Here's an

[Bug 538489] Re: Text of items with one icon don't line up with each other

2010-03-26 Thread Cody Russell
I think we narrowed this down yesterday to being a bug in the ubuntu-
mono theme. The problem seemed to be with the way there are symlinks to
.svg files, where the symlinks are named with .png extensions.

[Bug 448084] Re: gnome-panel crashed with SIGSEGV in gtk_widget_show()

2010-03-26 Thread Cody Russell
I'm taking a look through this and I'm still not sure what the problem
is yet, but there are a couple things that concern me a little bit and
seem like they could be related.

default_signaler is never unref'd anywhere, and the signals that are
connected to it are never disconnected anywhere. I'm worried that these
signals might be triggered and are passing in objects that may no longer
exist, but the pointers that were registered as as the user_data on the
signal connections are still pointing to those old memory addresses. As
Kalle points out, gtk_widget_show() is crashing on g_return_if_fail()
and the only reason I can think of that this might happen is illegal
memory access.

[Bug 528017] Re: Button press events force xchat into text selection mode that can't be broken.

2010-03-16 Thread Cody Russell
It should not affect the operation in non-CSD mode at all.

This actually just seems to be a bug in xchat-gnome that has never been
noticed because when the event propagates up to the toplevel widget
there has never been one that catches it before.

It should return TRUE if it handles the button-press event.

But CSD will not be in Lucid, so keeping the bug in xchat-gnome isn't
hurting anything at the moment. But it would still be nice to get it
fixed in upstream. :)

No, it seems inconsistent. When I first started awn after restarting my

then when I started Chromium and popped up the window they were gone.

Later I tried that again and they were still there.

Right now I just popped up the menu and the decorations are not there.
So it's kind of weird and inconsistent.

issues, and I'll try to get it released to Lucid ASAP. For me it's not
fixing Rhythmbox though, but I think that may be because I've somehow
gotten Rhythmbox stuck in a mode where it's trying to index my entire
home directory and I'm not sure how to tell it to stop. I'm hoping that
my patch will fix Rhythmbox for all of you though. :)

[Bug 387957] Re: Improve Save As Dialog Box (focus issues)

2010-01-11 Thread Cody Russell
If anyone wants to do some work on this bug, here's a patch to get you
started. This sets the focus to the location entry when you double
click the file browser treeview.

I don't have time to look into all the details right now, but if someone
here does then I'll be glad to help/mentor you if you want to finish
this up.

The file chooser widget runs in different modes, and this patch should
probably ensure that it only moves the focus if the chooser is running
in certain modes. We also probably also only want this behavior for
save dialog operations, not for open dialogs. If I double click in the
file browser while I'm trying to open a file, I want to still be able to
search in the file browser treeview by typing.

[Bug 387957] Re: Improve Save As Dialog Box (focus issues)

2010-01-11 Thread Cody Russell
To add some more specifics, the modes you should be looking into are
stored in impl-operation_mode and impl-location_mode. The patch
should be improved so it checks:

if (event-button == 1  event-type == GDK_2BUTTON_PRESS)
{
if ((impl-operation_mode == OPERATION_MODE_SEARCH || /* whatever */)
 (impl-location_mode == LOCATION_MODE_PATH_BAR || /* whatever */))
{
g_timeout_add (50, (GSourceFunc) location_entry_grab_focus, impl);
}

   return FALSE;

[Bug 491521] Re: Decorations and RGBA

2010-01-07 Thread Cody Russell
Andrea, you need to actually look at GdkColormap or the GdkVisual
directly and determine if it's an RGBA colormap. You can't compare the
return value of gdk_screen_get_default_colormap() and
gdk_screen_get_rgba_colormap(), because they'll be different values even
though they're both RGBA colormaps.

The reason for this is because we're planning to do a further
optimization once we get a new EWMH hint spec made official. But
basically we want to be able to differentiate between widgets that are
set to RGBA by either gtk_widget_set_colormap() or which are told
through the theme that they're RGBA as opposed to widgets that are only
RGBA because it's they inherited the default and don't actually draw any
RGBA.

[Bug 491521] Re: Decorations and RGBA

2010-01-06 Thread Cody Russell
This is an updated rgba/decorations patch for gtk+. This fixes a
crasher which is reproducible in Transmission and probably other apps,
and it removes all the extents and drop-shadow code.

We should consider client-side drop-shadows off the table for Lucid.
The big blocker for Lucid would be getting new EWMH specifications in
place, and I'm discovering already just with the RGBA opaque region hint
proposal that this process is not an easy and quick one.

[Bug 491521] Re: Decorations and RGBA

2009-12-09 Thread Cody Russell
Hey Andrea,

The decorations currently only defines some new style properties on
GtkWindow, so you should be able to use it already from murrine I think.

GtkWindow:client-side-decorated - bool, defaults to FALSE
GtkWindow:decoration-border-width - int
GtkWindow:decoration-resize-handle - int
GtkWindow:client-side-drop-shadows - bool, defaults to FALSE
GtkWindow:extents-left - int
GtkWindow:extents-right - int
GtkWindow:extents-top - int
GtkWindow:extents-bottom - int

client-side-decorated needs to be set to TRUE to enable the feature, it
defaults to FALSE

The four extents values control drop shadow size. For now make sure you
set all four of those to the same value, or the drop shadow may be
messed up.

Glad you're interested in it.. let me know how your experimentation
goes, and until it gets officially merged into master could you report
bugs to me directly by email? Use brats...@gnome.org
