I'm sorry my comment was regarded as spam. I woke up that morning and
noted that .gvfs was no longer causing me any exceptions in my nightly

someone that whatever they did, it seemed to take care of the issue for

It seems it's crashing in the ipod plugin, which isn't generating the
proper apport crash dump that everyone craves. The crash data I've given
is the best I can come up with.

I'll attach an MP3 file if it'll help folks play along at home.

Note that downloading the sample file should keep the stuff after the
question mark. If you copy this file over to an ipod device using
Rhythmbox, it will crash. If you rename the file, stripping out the
stuff after and including the question mark, it will not crash.

This isn't a direct duplicate of the aforementioned bug.

One solution I've found works is to remove the .xscreensaver file when
using the gnome screensaver. Under Gutsy, it just does the right thing
and directs the screensavers to use the Pictures folder.

[Bug 34276] Re: Some screensavers cannot be configured

2008-02-26 Thread Craig Maloney
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 31979 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/31979

This isn't a direct duplicate of the aforementioned bug.

One solution I've found works is to remove the .xscreensaver file when
using the gnome screensaver. Under Gutsy, it just does the right thing
and directs the screensavers to use the Pictures folder.

[Bug 235651] [NEW] rhythmbox crashes when copying a file with special characters to an iPod

2008-05-28 Thread Craig Maloney
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Rhythmbox crashes hard when trying to copy over an MP3 file with special
characters over to an iPod shuffle.

Steps to reproduce:

1) Have a filename with special characters in your library (Filename I had was
episode_71.mp3?nvb=20080525010843&nva=20080526010843&t=0225d6bafa5fdbf6f5777
2) Plug in an iPod shuffle.
3) Copy said file over to the iPod

Files with special characters like question marks used to be handled
gracefully, but now it crashes rhythmbox hard.

This is Ubuntu 8.04.

rhythmbox:
  Installed: 0.11.5-0ubuntu6

[Bug 235651] Re: rhythmbox crashes when copying a file with special characters to an iPod

2008-06-24 Thread Craig Maloney
Note that downloading the sample file should keep the stuff after the
question mark. If you copy this file over to an ipod device using
Rhythmbox, it will crash. If you rename the file, stripping out the
stuff after and including the question mark, it will not crash.

  Candidate: 0.11.5-0ubuntu6
  Version table:
 *** 0.11.5-0ubuntu6 0
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com hardy/main Packages

[Bug 235651] Re: rhythmbox crashes when copying a file with special characters to an iPod

2008-06-03 Thread Craig Maloney
Unfortunately I can't seem to get a crash report out of Rhythmbox. It
seems that no matter what I try with apport, it's not generating the
crash files. Would like to keep this bug open until such time as I
figure out why Rhythmbox isn't generating apport coredumps, or someone
resolves this issue.
