[Bug 1852383] [NEW] system hangs on shutdown

2019-11-12 Thread Daniele Dellafiore
Public bug reported:

On a Lenovo Yoga S940, the system always hangs on shutdown.
The screen turns black and nothing happens anymore.
I have to keep pressed for several seconds the shutdown hardware button in
order to actually turn it off.

I attach the journalctl output from the shutdown which present very
similar 'errors' from session to session.

[Bug 1846201] Re: Rendering is delayed on laptop display (works in external display)

2019-10-02 Thread Daniele Dellafiore
Ubuntu on Wayland has same behavior, but worst.

Video attached shows open a new tab with CTRL+T and the new tab not being
rendered until I create a new.
Then I remove both, I create a new one, not rendered, and got rendered only
when the mouse is moved.
https://photos.app.goo.gl/6Nc6oABXs1xX1ks26

This worked fine in 19.04 and works fine now with external display.

I'll send another video showing how windows animation for align right/left do
not work, windows just step from one state to the next with no animation.
Minimize/maximize are perfect.

[Bug 1846200] [NEW] Rendering is delayed on laptop display (works in external display)

2019-10-01 Thread Daniele Dellafiore
Public bug reported:

This is a very wierd behavior I get on the Lenovo Yoga S940 after
upgrading to 19.10.

Basically the rendering on the laptop display is... messy, I'll try to
describe how as

* screenshots always take it ok
* also screenrecorder always seem ok, despite rendering being broken.

What heppen is:

When I alt-tab or switch tabs or align window right, the rendering does not
happen completely, so the screen displays part of the old status and part of
the new.
If I then alt-tab again for example, or move the mouse cursor over the portions
that has not rendered properly, the renders happens.

This happens only on the laptop display, not on the external display.

This makes the laptop almost unusable with its own display.

I will need to go back to 19.04, if there's something I can do to help
debug this I'd rather do.

** Description changed:

  The "Authentication required" screen appeared while I was changing
  software repository settings, but it is stuck there:

  1. I can click "cancel" but there is no effect
  2. The window is now always on top of any other window, despite the original
Software Repository Settings windows has been closed (actually, terminated
manually)

  As you can see in the screenshot, The Firefox windows has focus now as I
  am typing in the address bar, but still the "dead" authentication window
  is on top.

[Bug 1822439] [NEW] gnome-control-center bluetooth panel broken with i3

2019-03-30 Thread Daniele Varrazzo
Public bug reported:

piro@makkuro:~$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS
Release:18.04

gnome-control-center doesn't display bluetooth adapter when run under i3: the
panel only shows the text:

```
No Bluetooth Found
Plug in a dongle to use Bluetooth.
```

Adapters are correctly displayed if the same user connects with gnome.
Other panels work correctly in i3.

Running the panel from command line, when the tab is selected, the
following log is displayed:

```
piro@makkuro:~$ XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP=ubuntu:GNOME gnome-control-center
[Bug 1811588] Re: Seahorse doesn't show passwords anymore
2019-01-14 Thread Daniele Besana (WP-OK)
Hi Olivier,
Yes, that was it :)
Under "View" I see two categories (Personal / Trusted), but no way to assign
the saved passwords to them.
Is it a bug?
Thanks
[Bug 1742482] Re: Double-click doesn't open default application
2018-02-06 Thread Daniele Besana (WP-OK)
** Summary changed:
- Bluefish asks to download files from Nautilus FTP window
+ Double-click doesn't open default application
** Description changed:
  Ubuntu 18.04
  Nautilus 1:3.26.0-0ubuntu1
- Bluefish 2.2.9-1
+ Bluefish 2.2.10
- When I open a file from a FTP server browsed with Nautilus, Bluefish
- asks to download the file instead of open it as it was in the previous
- versions.
+ When I open a .php file from a FTP server browsed with Nautilus, Chrome
+ is opened instead of the default application Bluefish.
  Steps to reproduce:
- 1. Connect to an FTP server via Nautilus
- 2. Open the file with Nautilus
- 3. Nautilus will ask for the download location
+ 1. Connect to an FTP server via Nautilus
+ 2a. Double-click on a .php file: chrome opens and the file is downloaded
+ 2b. Right click and select 'open with' and then Bluefish: the file is opened
in bluefish as expected
- If I try to open the same file with gedit it works well, that's why I
- think is Bluefish bug.
+ So, on the double-click from Nautilus the wrong app (chrome!) is opened
+ even if the .php files are associated with bluefish.
  Thanks
[Bug 872876] Re: terminal window resizes when moving around window in awesome window manager
More complete upstream report for this bug is here:
https://awesome.naquadah.org/bugs/index.php?do=detailstask_id=1022project=1pagenum=8
There is no activity since Friday, 14 March 2014; however they seem to
blame gnome-terminal, because for the violation of the rule 4.2.4:
Clients must not respond to being resized by attempting to resize
themselves to a better size.
[Bug 1048454] Re: [regression] Cannot open files whose paths contain apostrophes
2012-09-13 Thread Daniele Di Sarli
I only see the problem if after the apostrophe there are one or more white
spaces.
For example, a'b.txt is ok, but a' b.txt or a' b c.txt are not.
It seems that the path gets broken at every white space after the first
apostrophe. Gedit, for example, will try to open the following files instead of
/tmp/test' b' c:
 - /tmp/test' (notice the trailing apostrophe)
 - ~/b'
 - ~/c
[Bug 890905] Re: 'gnome-settings-daemon' received an X Window System error and missing icons
2012-02-29 Thread Daniele Varrazzo
Bug confirmed. #3: the bug happens for me at every boot, with no usb
device attached. I have to restart lightdm 2-3 times before obtaining a
working desktop.
Often, some 30-60 after login, the mouse freezes and only restarting
lightdm brings the desktop back in ordinary state.
Attached .xsession-errors for a broken session.
[Bug 890903] Re: terminal contents don't refresh/update
2012-01-18 Thread Daniele Pighin
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 861268 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/861268
I don't know if it can help, but I have noticed that the problem shows
up in gnome-terminal while it does not in terminator. On my machine, the
problem in gnome-terminal  was present both with the nuveau driver and
NVIDIA proprietary driver version 173. Driver version-current seemed to
fix the problem. So from my limited observation it seems like the
problem is related to the interaction between gnome-terminal and the
nvidia driver.
and delete, or open more than one linkedin message, those are html
formatted.
I am not so sure, I have opened all and deleted those linkedin message,
tomorrow i'll test better, should i forward one or two of these
messages? or attach message source here?
[Bug 693380] [NEW] Evolution keeps e-mail unread
2010-12-22 Thread Daniele Besana
Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: evolution
Since the distribution upgrade from Ubuntu 10.4 to 10.10, Evolution doesn't
mark the e-mails as read when I open them.
The shortcut CTRL+K or the mouse right-click + Mark as Read work fine, but
the e-mail is kept unread if I double click on it.
I don't have the option Mark messages as read after X seconds, but
even with that option the e-mails are not marked as read if I open them.
Thanks!
Daniele
2010-10-26 Thread Daniele Costarella
1. Yes, it's absolutely reproducible.
2. For example, open Evolution, go to mail section and resize the window at
minimum possible. The click on Calendar... the set size is lost.
On my netwook, an eee 10 inch, when I click on Calendar I can't manage to
return on Mail. It's impossible. The only way is to kill the application (by
console, obviously) and run again Evolution.
[Bug 438136] Re: palimpsest bad sectors false positive
2009-11-07 Thread Daniele Napolitano
@vwingate: Tha Palimpsest warning is supposed. There is a objective
SMART param: Overall Health. This is a param of SMART data that say when
hard drive in in pre-fail state (for example my BIOS stop the boot if an
hd is in pre-fail state).
All disk suites read that parameter to say that the hard disk should be
replaced, Palimpsest is assumed that many sectors reallocated indicate a
dangerous situation even though the disc itself does not signal its
unreliability.
[Bug 438136] Re: palimpsest bad sectors false positive
2009-11-03 Thread Daniele Napolitano
@Eros and @vwingate: I think that your response isn't a false positive,
your reallocated sectors value is reasonably low. The long test check
all sectors exept reallocated and include the spare area.
SeaTools read the same datas of Palimpsest (S.M.A.R.T. params) and do
the *same* test, in fact the tests are done internally by the hard drive
and not by software. If you run a long test form Palimpsest you will
have the same response.
The problems are the strange data, as reported Sharpie1.
[Bug 438136] Re: palimpsest bad sectors false positive
2009-11-02 Thread Daniele Napolitano
In my experience I have one hard disk with 7 reallocated sectors and
work fine (obviously).
Another case is my friend's computer, Windows has stopped working and
after a analysis with Palimpsest Disk Utility (on Ubuntu 9.10 live) I've
read up to 250 reallocated damage sectors. So, no false positive for me
(all hard disk are Maxtor).
A clarification: Reallocated sector means that hard disk has internally
isolated the sectors, so badblocks don't report errors! This is a
hardware data recovery.
The right way (IMHO) is reduce from 2 toolbars to 1.
About removing strings, just change the priority for Previus and Next
items.
[Bug 19586] Re: When nautilus cannot unmount a media, it must tell why.
2009-06-12 Thread Daniele Napolitano
This command could be useful for resolving this bug: fuser
Some examples:
fuser -c device Show PIDs of processes that using device.
fuser -c -i -k  device Show PIDs of processes thet using devce and ask to
killing it.
It would be a great improvement...
[Bug 360667] Re: [8.10, Evolution] Summary and folder mismatch, even after a sync
2009-05-26 Thread Daniele
Me too I had this sync problem, and also it was impossible for me to
purge the messages from Trash. So I have searched everywhere over the
Internet to find a solution. After many unsuccessful tricks, I have
tried to delete the search folders, and now it seems to work fine: no
more sync messages, and a clear trash.
Probably there is some recursive unresolved check between the search
folders and other folders.
I hope this may be helpful
