This is still an issue on ubuntu 11.10. [Bug 486387] [NEW] thumbnailing prevents umounting drives
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus Bob is running out of time but before leaving has to copy a small file onto his pendrive wich has some videos an photos in is parent directory.He plug the drive, copy the file and try to umount the drive but he can't until all thumbnails are shown.
