I really dislike it when my mouse disappears, I like to know where it is if I have to pick it up while writing. For example, while writing this comment I could have the need to check my email or IRC. Well, with the latest updates, I now get 3.2.0 (gedit --version). I still use gedit on daily basis and it hasn't happened since. I'm having the same problem. The failures seem to be random. Sometimes the volume control works without problems, and sometimes it just does not respond.
