[Bug 1841354] Re: Show a "Confirm" dialog window when deleting files
I'm aware this is a very dated thread, but I absolutely agree with Greg here. As a plasma user making my way to Gnome, I don't expect the full customization that I'm accustomed to; however philosophical ideologies taking a toggle for something like this seems a bit ridiculous and overstepping. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1841354 Title: Show a "Confirm" dialog window when deleting files To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1841354/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1712279] Re: Can't add google account, shows "credentials have expired"
I had this problem in Mint, and what I found is that if there is a conflicting Google account signed in on Chrome (in my case) it won't work. I had to log out of that other account, and it began working. So it seems (as mentioned somewhat, above) that it is very dependent on what you are signed in on with your browser. I run a 2nd Google account out of Chrome for work, and use Brave for my main Google browser -- so each browser uses a different account. Had to switch both to the same that I wanted Gnome to use (although I suspect the only one it really needed to be signed in the same with was Chrome). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1712279 Title: Can't add google account, shows "credentials have expired" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1712279/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1689825] Re: gnome-keyring not unlocked on boot
I use KeePass 2 on Mono so I'm not too bothered by this. Wifi and NetworkManager still have problems though. On Google Chrome and likely Chromium I fixed the 2 minute start wait by adding --password-store=basic the command line. You can add it the Exec entry in your desktop file or by editing the menu entry with menu-libre or equivalent. You will have to sign in to Chrome again if you use their syncing functionality. I like syncing because I can see history and open tabs from my phone on my desktop and vice versa. It seems Chromium uses a plain text password store with the basic option so you may not prefer this option. I don't use Chromium password storage since I use KeePass so it works for me. https://chromium.googlesource.com/chromium/src/+/lkcr/docs/linux_password_storage.md I have read that PAM is supposed to unlock the keyring as configured in LightDM (My current display manager) but that's not being done apparently. [Bug 1637333] [NEW] gnome-terminal crashes when tab is dragged onto another tab's terminal area
Public bug reported: This bug occurs when I drag an existing terminal tab out of the tab bar and drop it onto the text area of the open terminal. Usually occurs by accident, to be honest (when I don't mean to drag the tab at all, for instance) but it's 100% reproducible intentionally. I found several old bug reports on similar issues, but they were either not detailed enough to figure out if they were exactly the same or were closed as duplicates of a bug that no longer exists (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-terminal/+bug/1442826). Apport generated a report (title: gnome-terminal-server crashed with SIGABRT in g_assertion_message()) for me and then helpfully explained that the bug had already been filed. [Bug 903422] Re: Ubuntu does not work with Samsung Galaxy phones (Unable to open raw device 0)
There was recently a change to the adb tool. It now does authentication; the user is prompted to "allow" a new computer when the phone is connected to it. The old adb is not compatible. This change is probably why it fails, even though MTP on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus previously worked. I used the new adb (with the authentication) to manually push files. That worked fine. Trying the other forum posts (like changing the udev rules) did not work for me. It was very aggravating to get the cool new phone (Nexus 4) and then not be able to transfer files to it. FWIW, it isn't locking up on Hard, it just takes a really really long time while the GUI goes unresponsive. If I go do something else, and check back in 5-10 minutes, it has unfrozen. I can then take another move. As the board positions constrain, the freezes become shorter. The AI is still stupid. So. I'd like to note that if you play on Hard. 1) Hard is now a lot easier (either that or I've gotten a lot better, but I don't think so) 2) It locks up almost every single game. In fact, I have yet to finish a game on hard due to lockups. It doesn't crash (at least yet) but it goes completely unresponsive until I get bored and kill it 5-10 minutes later. BTW, most egregious example of that scoring bug. Yet another bug in this buggy buggy version. If the AI does multiple moves (you slipped up and he got a bunch of moves due to no open positions for you), you can't undo past all the moves. It appears that as soon as you try one undo, the horribly slow AI thinking freezes everything up, and you can't do anything until it redoes the move. There's no way to get past it. At least, have only had this happen once, but I tried undoing 5 times without any better results. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-games in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/988138 Title: Iagno hangs every game or two in Ubuntu 12.04, is very slow to take AI turns, crashes, loops sounds and gives wrong score in the end. So, it looks like the reason the score is so wildly off on some games (07-32 instead of 00-42 in last game) is that the score is only updated when the AI captures. In this case, I made 7 moves, he made one, then I made 3 more. For those 10 moves I made, the score did not budge. Someone really broke this game. IMO it should be reverted to whatever it was in the last release. BTW, the "not opening a second window" thing seems to impact some other games too. Tetravex for example has that problem. Oh. One thing that *is* different in MATE is that I can't open a 2nd window of Iagno as I could in the past in Gnome 2. If I launch Iagno from the window manager or commandline and there is already one instance of the program launched, it exits immediately. This obviously leaves an empty loading window for a little while in MATE. This does work in Unity which makes me wonder if the overall brokenness might be related to some change in Iagno itself. Found another interesting symptom. After the usual lag and darkening window when AI was trying to move, I took a turn. It hung a bit, and after the turn, instead of my move having been taken, the AI had taken a move instead and the entire row was the AI colour. I hit undo a few times, and the pattern of play did not match the last few moves we'd taken. Rally feels like someone added buggy threading in this version. So. I don't think it has anything to do with pulseaudio, since it hangs and the window greys out even with sound completely disabled. I haven't gotten it to completely lock up though, so it could be that it only actually crashes if it is trying to play sounds when it locks. As for Tha's AI theory - maybe? [Bug 890055] [NEW] File properties information no longer expands to fit dialog.
Public bug reported: right-click > Properties In previous versions, the "Name:", "Location:", etc. fields would expand to fit the window width. Re: [Bug 775188] System Monitor - does not display all CPUs
Hello Pedro, This issue does not exist for me under Oneiric Ocelot on the live CD, nor the full desktop installation. This only existed with Natty Narwhal. [Bug 221363] Re: Policy Kit Unlock Buttons Greyed Out when using NX / VNC / LTSP
Milan said in #62: Have a look at files in /usr/share/polkit-1/actions/ and try to guess what are the files you need to edit. Then it's probably useful to file bugs so that it's fixed upstream, if applicable. What are the criteria to know what files need to be edited? I saw org.freedesktop.SystemToolsBackends.policy and gdm.policy mentioned above. Are those the only two? Would it be more correct to replace every "allow_active" with "allow_any" in 100% of those files? There are 25 files that say "allow_active" in them. I want to help fix this bug, which means filing a bug report for every package that needs a revised policy file, like gdm and system-tools- backends: root@cst8:/usr/share/polkit-1/actions# dpkg -S gdm.policy gdm: /usr/share/polkit-1/actions/gdm.policy root@cst8:/usr/share/polkit-1/actions# dpkg -S org.freedesktop.SystemToolsBackends.policy system-tools-backends: /usr/share/polkit-1/actions/org.freedesktop.SystemToolsBackends.policy root@cst8:/usr/share/polkit-1/actions# I just don't understand what criteria to use to know which other packages should have a bug filed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to system-tools-backends in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/221363 Title: Policy Kit Unlock Buttons Greyed Out when using NX / VNC / LTSP To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/freenx-server/+bug/221363/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 846808] Re: PolicyKit button doesn't allow authenticating
First: I did not see "Authentication agent" listed when I ran gnome- session-properties on my 11.04 server. I did not see it on my Ubuntu 10.04 workstation, either. Not sure what's up with that. However, you did identify the root of the problem. I did not mention that I am using VNC. When I log in locally (with a physical keyboard and monitor), then I am able to "Click to make changes" and change my hostname. When I log in using a physical keyboard, it looks like this when I run "who" (my username is "ubuntu"): ubuntu tty8 2011-09-11 18:33 (:0) But when I log in with VNC, it looks like this: ubuntu2011-09-11 18:32 (127.0.0.1:1) I am guessing the difference between (:0) and (127.0.0.1:1) is why my VNC session is not authorized to make changes. So I am marking this bug as "invalid". Thank you for your help. [Bug 628899] Re: Crash when testing speakers
In my case, problem went away after killing pulseaudio and restarting it. Interestingly, while gnome-volume-control showed both audio sources (digital/analog), pavucontrol only listed the HDMI one, and even though gnome-volume-control showed analog as selected, muting the visible HDMI source in pavu, muted the gnome volume. Killing pulse, and restarting, listed both sources in pavu, and the assertion stopped happening. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-media in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/628899 Title: Crash when testing speakers -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 275353] Re: [Enhancement] Add a flexible spacer in the panel objects
I have no idea how hard this fix is to implement, but as a long time Ubuntu fan, I can say that this has been annoying me a long time, and usually does happen during initial setup of a new machine during all the monitor resizes in the monitor configuration step. I also currently have Ubuntu setup inside a VMWare virtual machine which basically resizes the monitor to full screen mode every time I log in and the VMWare Tools application starts. This leaves the applets that should be on the right sitting in the middle of my panels with every login. Unlocking and moving them all every login is a serious pain. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/275353 Title: [Enhancement] Add a flexible spacer in the panel objects -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 663135] Re: gdm broken after update to 10.10 - instant session end - signal 15 - after login
Well, I don't know if this is the same for everyone, but I found the culprit on my machine. I added some debug statements inside of /etc/gdm/Xsession to figure out how the session was loaded and that led me to the directory /etc/X11/Xsession.d/70fglrx_32bit_dri When the file inside got sourced by Xsession, it crashed things. dpkg stated that this directory wasn't owned by any package so I moved it out of /etc/X11/Xession.d and now I'm logging in just fine. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/663135 Title: gdm broken after update to 10.10 - instant session end - signal 15 - after login -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
