I have the same problem on Ubuntu 12.10. I have tried 2 fresh installs and both the exact same issue. Copying about 45gig of music around 11,000 files the copy freezes anywhere from 200 to 600 meg. I thought I would try Ubuntu 13.04 just to see... and it's plagued with the same problem. Haven't moved to 12.10 because of this bug.
