[Bug 649809] Re: Meerkat (10.10) does not apply theme properly
I'm using the nvidia binary drivers. Also using them on 2 other machines without SSD with no problems. When I try to change the theme in the gnome-appearance-properties only the titlebar theme will change. Starting the gnome-settings-daemon doesn't help until I log out and back in again. And even then only sporadically. The only solution that works 100% of the time is #68. -- Meerkat (10.10) does not apply theme properly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/649809 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 649809] Re: Meerkat (10.10) does not apply theme properly
No auto login here either. It happens 95% of the time. Also the hack in #68 works for me and I haven't seen the problem since applying it.
Ernesto. I'll try that fix at home this evening. I too am using an SSD drive so sounds like it might be the cause.
I'll add my .xsession-errors later from home. One thing I've noticed which is way more damaging is that the .xsession- errors and .xsession-errors.old quickly fill up my home partition by repeatedly logging the same error. After about 15 mins the 19 gig free space in my home partition is gone causing all sorts of problems with software trying to save and read from their cache. Deleteing the .xsession-errors* solves the problem until I reboot. -- Meerkat (10.10) does not apply theme properly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/649809 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 383927] Re: endless loading in nautilus / some files missing
I am still getting it intermittently. Seems to now rely on large files being moved into the target folder. Switching off Nautilus Preview is the still the easiest fix. -- endless loading in nautilus / some files missing https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/383927 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 397192] Re: nautilus becomes non-responsive during video-playback
After being fine since the fix was released I've got this problem back, but intermittently. I'm back to switching on and off Preview. It manifests slightly differently. With Preview switched on, in a older into which large files have been copied, the folder contents may not be visible until Preview is switched off. However as I said it's intermittant, and I can't nail it down exactly. I'll update here when I can. -- nautilus becomes non-responsive during video-playback https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/397192 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

But after doing the above, reinstalling GDM & Ubuntu-desktop, as suggested, DID work. -- Cannot get back to original colour scheme for the gdm greeter once "Invert Colour" is ticked, then unticked https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/446439 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Hasn't worked for me I'm afraid. [Bug 397192] Re: nautilus becomes non-responsive during video-playback
Sorry, meant to add my details in previous post. 32-bit Ubuntu, 9.10 (fresh install over 8.10), kernel 2.6.31-14-pae-i686. Happening on different FAT external drives so not hardware (or filesystem) related. I'm also getting: "nautilus:6644): Eel-CRITICAL **: eel_preferences_get_boolean: assertion `preferences_is_initialized ()' failed" in terminal -- nautilus becomes non-responsive during video-playback https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/397192 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 397192] Re: nautilus becomes non-responsive during video-playback
Yes, I'm seeing a similar issue on folders which have video files. Terminal will list the files but Nautilus will wait continuously trying to update the folder. If I switch Nautilus>Edit>Preferences>Preview to Never Preview, all files will display. I also thought it was mainly folders where files had been copied into them, but I've just had it replicate on one of the main offending folders when no files were moved or copied, I was just changing views between various tabs on the different drives. Changing the Minimum file preview size has no effect. Size of file where problem is occurring for me is at least 150MB, much smaller than reported above. In my case it's happening on two FAT32 external drives. I've tried replicating with smaller (<30mb) PDFs and MP3 files of approx. 100mb but not finding it, though I've only made brief checks. -- nautilus becomes non-responsive during video-playback https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/397192 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 192009] Re: gnome panel has no way to specify on which screen it should appear
In my case, I use a laptop also with external VGA. I just installed Karmic over Intrepid. With Karmic the laptop comes up as primary but I want the Ext. VGA as primary when it is plugged in. I've had to add a script to switch both off and reset the External as Primary after each restart (of which I have lot because of lots of various issues with karmic). The reset script only works about one third of the time, (causing blank screen the other two thirds). With Intrepid the External was Primary when plugged in, (as I would expect most people using an external would require). Configure Display has no option for setting this though what I would wish to revert to is a way to say "Use External Display As Primary When Present". -- gnome panel has no way to specify on which screen it should appear https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/192009 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 34321] Re: should not write the session when changing automatic session saving option
I have a fresh install of 8.10 and this still seems present. As far I can I tell from the discusion here and at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=499105&page=2 that is. Tomboy Notes keeps starting at Startup, regardless of what i do. . . However in Intrepid there doesn't seem to be a ~/.gnome2/session file.
