[Bug 393720] Re: To hide files/directories is complex
UPSTREAM comment -> DrKenobi [reporter] 2010-06-12 09:38:50 UTC Hi! I'm not the original reporter of this enhancement but I agree with it. I think it should be more easy to hide some folders or files. For example, if you install an application like Google Earth a new folder is created at /home and you never use it. I don't like to see that folder every time I open my Home Directory. Before I learned there where some files and directories hidden, and before I learned how to hide something, I couldn't hide that folder. For new people to Linux, like I was, I think it would be great to be able to hide something like this Google Earth folder with one or two clicks. I think that we have to made Linux as easy as possible. -- To hide files/directories is complex https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/393720 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 393720] Re: To hide files/directories is complex
Upstream Comment: Allan Day 2010-06-14 08:28:24 UTC Thanks for the additional information. Apps shouldn't go creating directories in /home/ that's what .config and .local are for. In that sense, this enhancement would be a workaround for bugs in other software. My usability concern about this is that users might hide files and directories and then forget where they are located, or might not realise how to make them visible. [Bug 583457] Re: print dialog should remember the file format and folder
FROM UPSTREAM: The support for such functionality is in the gtk+ already. You can find it here: http://library.gnome.org/devel/gtk/unstable/GtkPrintSettings.html#gtk- print-settings-load-file (and below it). It works well in evince for example (just tested on evince-2.32.0 in Fedora 14). You should file a feature request against the application which doesn't work as you expect. Now I'm setting this bug to invalid and we should file a feature request against the application which doesn't work as expected. ** Changed in: gtk+2.0 (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gtk+2.0 in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/583457 Title: print dialog should remember the file format and folder -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 629527 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/629527 Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This particular bug has already been reported and is a duplicate of bug 629527, so it is being marked as such. Please look at the other bug report to see if there is any missing information that you can provide, or to see if there is a workaround for the bug. Additionally, any further discussion regarding the bug should occur in the other report. Feel free to continue to report any other bugs you may find. This also happens to me. To solve this, every time it happens I press "Alt + F2", write "xkill" and hit "Run". The pointer is now going to be an "X". You only have to put the pointer over the Task Bar and click. [Bug 629527] Re: Taskbar loses Shutdown Icon
Between the master bug (this one) and the duplicates, date/clock and login name all seem capable of overwriting the shutdown icon. I can confirm this bug, it happens sometimes and I couldn't find a way to reproduce the bug. It just happens. But I found a work-around: every time it happens I press "Alt + F2", write "xkill" and hit "Run". The pointer is now going to be an "X". You only have to put the pointer over the Task Bar and left-click your mouse. You can also 'restart/log out' your computer, but it takes more time. ** Changed in: gnome-panel (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed -- Taskbar loses Shutdown Icon https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/629527 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-panel in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
