[Bug 666887] Re: suduko missing generate puzzles option

2013-05-26 Thread Dr. W.J.W. Hanna
The advice to upgrade to Ubuntu 12.04 LTS does not solve the problem. I
am now on a new computer with a new clean install of Ubuntu 12.04 and
find that the bug is still there. Gnome soduko does not generate any
new puzzles, so, after a time, the option to Print multiple sudokus
does not work!. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

[Bug 666887] Re: suduko missing generate puzzles option

2013-01-20 Thread Dr. W.J.W. Hanna
Jeremy, I could certainly open a new bug report. However, I cannot
understand why this should be necessary, since I am experiencing exactly
the same behaviour in Ubuntu 11.10 that the original poster seems to
have been having in 10.10. When I run gnome sudoku from the command
line instead of from the GUI, I get exactly the same error messages -
something like:

WARNING: Not able to provide 1 puzzles in levels ['very hard']
WARNING: Generate more puzzles if you really need this many puzzles!
WARNING: Repeating puzzle for difficulty very hard -- generate more puzzles to
avoid this.

It seems to me, therefore, that this is the same bug.

[Bug 666887] Re: suduko missing generate puzzles option

2013-01-18 Thread Dr. W.J.W. Hanna
Jeremy, the menu option Print multiple sudokus is present in Ubuntu
11.10. What I was trying to say is that, after it has been used a
certain number of times, it ceases to work any more because there are no
more puzzles in store. There is no option to generate new puzzles, so
this store can never be replenished. It may produce new puzzles in the
background, but, if I am right, it is only doing this one at a time, so
that there is never more than one new puzzle (of a particular type, such
as hard, very hard, etc.). This means that the menu item Print
multiple sudokus cannot be used. I don't know whether switching to
12.04 would help this.

[Bug 666887] Re: suduko missing generate puzzles option

2013-01-15 Thread Dr. W.J.W. Hanna
How can I obtain a copy of gnome-sudoku with this fix which jbicha
states has been released? It certainly does not seem to be present in
my installation of Ubuntu 11.10 (which has been kept fully up to date).
The game does produce a new puzzle to play online, but it does not
produce multiple new games so that the option Print Multiple Sudokus
can be used. Without this ability to produce multiple new puzzles, the
game is virtually useless to the person who wants to work offline. I am
still getting exactly the same behaviour as did the original poster.

[Bug 216266] Re: Usplash without progress bar on shutdown.

2008-11-08 Thread Dr. W.J.W. Hanna
I confirm the bug is fixed in intrepid, so I'm marking it as this.

That's all very well, but this bug report was filed concerning Ubuntu
8.04 - Half-baked Heron - so why has a patch not been released to
correct it in that release, which, after, is a Long Term Support
release? Where is the Long Term Support, if bugs like this only are
corrected in a later, Short Term Support, release?

I have tried this but completely without success. in fact, I have tried
various combinations of adding and removing three blank lines with the
same success - absolutely none! In fact, it seems to me as if there are
already far too many blank lines in my gdm.conf-custom file! If there
is anyone who would like to look at it and see if he or she can spot an
error, here it is (and, Yes, there really are all those blank lines
without my doing anything to it!):

RebootCommand=/sbin/shutdown -r now Reboot via gdm.

I see that all the blank lines in my gdm.conf-custom file were removed
when this comment was posted. In an attempt to get them right I have
now attached the copy of the file as a text document.
