Why make it such complicated like copying files to another partition. I think "Prompt for empty trash on unmount (Ubuntu: #12893)" is a great idea for removal medias. Great idea but one problem. Ok, I have made some tests. It is very weird. The Trash seems to list the deleted external media files if opened but doesn't change the trash symbol (with paper) and the hover tells me it is empty. This doesn't happen if I delete files in my Linux partition. Another point is that the Trash seems to completely ignore .Trash-$USER on ntfs-3g partitions. It doesn't list any file at all. But since the problem with the hover and symbol seem to happen only with external media this should be the right place. Could anyone confirm this? [Bug 95867] Gnome recognizes the resolution 1368x768 instead of 1366x768
Public bug reported: I am using an Sony Vaio TX2 Laptop. After installation of Ubuntu Gnome shows the wrong resolution. The correct one (1366x768) is saved in xorg.conf and it is used but the virtual size is set to 1368x768 so the monitor moves two pixel every time you reach one monitor end. Why make it such complicated like copying files to another partition. I think "Prompt for empty trash on unmount (Ubuntu: #12893)" is a great idea for removal medias. Ok, I have made some tests. It is very weird. The Trash seems to list the deleted external media files if opened but doesn't change the trash symbol (with paper) and the hover tells me it is empty. [Bug 41623] Re: Firefox windows do not get focus when launched
This bug still exists and it is very annoying and confusing. The biggest problem is that people who don't know this think the application isn't started or link wasn't open. If I open a link in mail program. im or something like that and Firefox is not running it is started and gets a focus. But if Firefox is already running the link gets loaded in Firefox but the mail program still has the focus so you think nothing happens. The most annoying problem is that Firefox opens for some operation like downloads a new window. If you change back to main Firefox and click another download which appears in the opened popup you have to change manually to it. Afaik this doesn't happen in KDE so it is a Gnome issue. If someones want to check it. 1. Open Nautilus and make it full screen. 2. Open a video in Totem. 3. Change back to Nautilus. 4. *** This bug is a duplicate of bug 32466 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/32466 No, this bug hasn't already reported at least in the duplicate bug. On ntfs-3g partitions the files aren't shown at all even if you open the trash manual. The other one (External disk trash not shown by trash applet) is a gui bug but this one seems to be deeper. I guess that Gnome doesn't expect writing support for ntfs but I don't know. [Bug 106621] Re: Gnome Trash doesn't show deleted files on ntfs-3g partitions
I think you are right and people can live with it until Gutsy if it is mentioned somewhere in Wiki. But could you please confirm the bug so it doesn't get lost or is it then a problem for Feisty release? Anyway I guess that ntfs-3g would be main in Gutsy so it gets more important and btw. thanks for reopening. -- Gnome Trash doesn't show deleted files on ntfs-3g partitions https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/106621 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I think the problem is that the fix is a deeper one and this wouldn't fit with the freeze version. But I think that's what we have the rep feisty-updates for. [Bug 95867] Re: Gnome recognizes the resolution 1368x768 instead of 1366x768
It is very annoying if you change often between external and internal monitor since every time you use the lfp it has the wrong resolution. Is there any possibility to change the gnome-display-properties saved resolution through a script? [Bug 95867] Re: Gnome recognizes the resolution 1368x768 instead of 1366x768
I haven't tested it in a while but I think it wouldn't work with higher resolution monitors. ATM I am using the standard i810 driver for LFP and the i810-modesetting driver for external. Interesting point is since I created a script to switch between this drivers the resolution is always correct on LFP. Maybe it works because gnome resolution has a wrong resolution saved (1680x1050) and it must reset which results in the correct resolution but I don't know. -- Gnome recognizes the resolution 1368x768 instead of 1366x768 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/95867 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for control-center in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 27060] Re: Battery applet never says fully charged
I have the same problem with Feisty but I have read somewhere that the same problem appears under Windows so it seems to be a Sony ACPI bug. If I check the battery info under proc design capacity and last full capacity are the same so it seems to work. [Bug 79030] Re: gnome-video-thumbnailer uses all available CPU power when using bittorrent
I can confirm this for Feisty. This is not a Bittorrent problem. It is general since it happens for every video file which is downloaded at the moment and which is shown in Nautilus. I have this problem with DownThemAll (Firefox plugin) too and the Thumbnailer uses 100% CPU and lets my fan run very loud. [Bug 79030] Re: gnome-video-thumbnailer uses all available CPU power when using bittorrent
BTW I don't think that this is a Totem problem. I think Nautilus is the app which starts gnome-video-thumnailer so it has to be fixed. I have a 6 Megabit connection. I have realized that it takes over ten seconds after opening the directory with the video download until the gnome-video-thumbnailer is started which consumes nearly all cpu time he can get. This bug still exists in standard Feisty and Gutsy Tribe 5. A maybe interesting point is if I change resolution on Gutsy Live CD to 1366x768 I got a black screen. I could move mouse but see nothing. [Bug 32466] Re: External disk trash not shown by trash applet
Why make it such complicated like copying files to another partition. I think "Prompt for empty trash on unmount (Ubuntu: #12893)" is a great idea for removal medias. The only missing thing is that Gnome Trash should show all MEDIA/.Trash-$USER files so that files could be cleared on static medias too. [Bug 12893] Re: Shouldn't put .Trash-$USER on removable devices
Great idea but one problem. I am using ntfs-3g and gnome moves all removed files to the usual trash position but since the NTFS partition is on my internal hard disk and umounted only on shutdown I never got this trash clear message. The trash directory consists 15 GB on my hard disk. Afaik the KDE Trash searches every media for .Trash or something like that and shows the stuff so it could be easily clear it. [Bug 12893] Re: Shouldn't put .Trash-$USER on removable devices
Should I made a separate bug report to keeps things clear? -- Shouldn't put .Trash-$USER on removable devices https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/12893 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- desktop-bugs mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 12893] Re: Shouldn't put .Trash-$USER on removable devices
Ok, I have made one for ntfs-3g https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/trashapplet/+bug/106621 . But since the problem with the hover and symbol seem to happen only with external media this should be the right place. Could anyone confirm this? Removing files on external media have no effect on the symbol of the trash (if it is full it should show the paper in trash) and the hover, which tells me that it is empty but if you open the Trash it shows the deleted files of external media. Maybe it happens with every not system/home partiton too but I have only one so couldn't check it. -- Shouldn't put .Trash-$USER on removable devices https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/12893 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- desktop-bugs mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
