[Bug 1081231] [NEW] GIMP cannot drag droppable dialog to toolbox

2012-11-20 Thread Evertjan Garretsen
Public bug reported:

In Ubuntu 12.10 i'm not able to drag a dockable dialog to the toolbox
dialog althoug the toolbox says You can drop dockable dialogs here. I
want to restore by tool options, for somehow i accidentally deleted
this dock from the toolbox. Only way for me to do this now is to restore
all options in GIMP, dragging would be a lot easier.

[Bug 1081234] [NEW] Main menu not visible when active (top) dock

2012-11-20 Thread Evertjan Garretsen
Public bug reported:

Using the GIMP in Unity is anoying for everytime a dock is the active
window, you have to first click on the image window to be able to see
the main menu.

For example:

when you just selected a tool, you have to click on the menu before it
appears. This is one unneeded extra step and in the GIMP the main menu
is very important for functionailty.

[Bug 1081241] [NEW] Toolbox window handlers not visible after closing and reopening toolbox

2012-11-20 Thread Evertjan Garretsen
Public bug reported:

After closing the toolbox window (by clicking the close button) and
reopening it from the menu window - new toolbox, the toolbox
reappears, but i cannot see the window handlers (close button, drag
handle). I've attached a screenshot to show what goes wrong.

The toolbox opens as a very hight 1 column toolbox, therefore it takes
up all the vertical space and the window handler is hidden at the top
end of the screen.

[Bug 682198] Re: Keyboard backlight does not function under Ubuntu - workaround needed

2012-08-11 Thread Evertjan Garretsen
On my new notebook (ASUS N56VM) the backlights did not work by default
so i googled and found the following:

---
or N56V and N76V, you need :

a 3.5 kernel (from quantal)
to get the subwoofer
I add on /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf this line: options
snd-hda-intel model=asus-mode4
reboot and select 2.1 output in audio pref
to get the fn keys + keyboard backlight
install asus-wmi-dkms_0.2_all.deb.gz package (from
http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=12057336postcount=49)
reboot
to get the GeForce (when you want)
install bumblebee and driver from x-swat repository
to get the Ethernet
build/install alx module
(http://www.linuxfoundation.org/collaborate/workgroups/networking/alx)
---
on the URL:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/166261/keyboard-backlight-not-working-on-an-asus-n56v

It would be nice if the packageasus-wmi-dkms_0.2_all.deb.gz would be
installed by default for the N56V and N76V series. Don't know how to
report this, that's why i comment here in this thread instead of making
a new bug.

[Bug 998156] Re: GTK Print dialog sends broken custom page size attribute: PageSize=Custom.Custom.widthxlength

2012-07-13 Thread Evertjan Garretsen
I experience a bug similar to the one descriped above. Due to a wrong
setting of paper-size A3 in the print dialog instead of A4. My printer
HP CP1515CN does not support A3 paper format and i should not be able to
select this size (correct me if wrong). When trying to print, the
graphical spool just says: stopped. HPLIP reports job completed. The
cups error_log is attached here. I have another printer the Brother MFC
5890CN which does support A3. It seems like the page setting of A3 was
left from when i printed with this brother printer some time ago. Since
then i could not print due to the bug 973270, so i only start noticing
it now. I think hower that in case of errors in the error log, the
graphical spool should say something more informative than stopped,
something like error. Maybe this bring you guys closer to solving this
problem. After setting the correct size of A4 i was able to print again
from Evince.

[Bug 998156] Re: GTK Print dialog sends broken custom page size attribute: PageSize=Custom.Custom.widthxlength

2012-07-13 Thread Evertjan Garretsen
From within Inkscape i cannot print. I think this has to do with me not
being able to select the paper size (Papiergroote) of A4. Somehow it
is set to custom, although i've set my paper size to A4 in the
inkscape document. See the attached screenshot to see that the paper
size field is disabled. I will als include a screenshot of the
graphical print spool (don't know what it's called) so that you can see
that the status is stopped (Gestopt).

One more screen shot. After a print does not succeed, probably due to
incorrect or custom paper size after reopening the print dialog the
printer's status is marked as failed as shown in the attached
screenshot.

[Bug 999139] [NEW] fingerprint reader Authentec, inc AES1600

2012-05-14 Thread Evertjan Garretsen
Public bug reported:

If i'm correct Ubuntu supports fingerprint readers in user accounts as i
read on the page: https://help.ubuntu.com/11.04/ubuntu-help/session-
fingerprint.html

I cannot find a list of supported devices, but do know that my device is
not natively supported.

I installed Fingerprint Gui and it does support my fingerprint reader.

It would be nice to add the driver for AES1600 from authentec to Ubuntu
and the supported devices as well as the others supported by fingerprint
GUI. I'm not a driver developer, but as Fingerprint GUI can find the
fingerprint reader i think it should not be too difficult to incorporate
it in Ubuntu. Or am i wrong?

Althoug Fingerprint gui works somewhat stable. It does crash sometimes
and the look of it is not native and nice in my honest opinion.

Maybe someone with experience can tell me if fingerprint gui (at least
the driver part) can be incorporated in Ubuntu?

Thanks for all your good work!

[Bug 785212] [NEW] GIMP maximized window (F11) overlays menu / title bar

2011-05-19 Thread Evertjan Garretsen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gimp

Whenever GIMP is maximized by pressing F11, it overlays the unity
titlebar / menubar.

When switching apps (for example by using alt-tab) the gimp is visible
where the titlebar or menubar should be visible.

Also see the attached picture.

[Bug 477955] Re: Evolution cannot copy contact directly from google contacts to ubuntu one contacts, error adding contacts

2010-07-03 Thread Evertjan Garretsen
I installed the latest version of Evolution 2.30.2 . The bug is still
present. I attached a edited screenshot to explain how to reproduce the
bug. Possibly 2 or 3 different bugs.

Method 1: drag a contact from one folder to the ubuntu one folder. -
result contact is not copied, no error warning / message.

Method 2: Right click a contact in a contact folder and choose copy (or
move) to and select the ubuntu one folder. - result. error message as
show in the screenshot.

I also got another error message when dragging a contact from a different
contact folder to the ubuntu one folder:
this is attached as an 2nd screenshot.
