[Bug 95326] Re: sound juicer aac formatted files skip and...

The problem with rockbox is, that it isn't available for IPods of the
last generation, and probably never will be. (And there are still people
in the world who want to _keep_ the apple firmware, because they like
it. Me for example :-) )

I close this bug, because I noticed that sound-juicer simply writes id3
2.4 tags whereas most application only recognize id3 2.3.

Is there at least some workaround for this?

[Bug 178113] id3 tags are not recognized by other applications

2007-12-22 Thread Fabian Zeindl
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: sound-juicer

Hi,
 I use Sound-Juicer for CD-ripping unter Ubuntu Gutsy.
Only few other program like amaroK recognize the tags correctly.
Audio TagTool for example cannot.

When I do id3info file.mp3 it says

*** Tag information for file.mp3
*** mp3 info
MPEG1/layer III
Bitrate: 256KBps
Frequency: 44KHz

Not more.

AAC is as far as I know not a proprietary format. It's even standardised by ISO.
If the format is not supported by the standard installation, then why does
soundjuicer offer it?

* Install the following gstreamer-10-plugins (some of them in multiverse and
universe): base, good, bad, bad-multiverse, ugly, ugly-multiverse, ffmpeg
* Do NOT install any gstreamer-0.8 packages
* insert a CD and open soundjuicer
* create/select a pipeline like this: audio/x-raw-int,rate=44100,channels=2 !
faac ! ffmux_mp4
* rip the CD
* listen to the tracks

I see this bug too, and not only on my computer but on any ubuntu-
machine I use.

[Bug 122081] Re: beagle search in filechooser not possible

2007-06-25 Thread Fabian Zeindl
OK:

1. I'm using feisty.
2. It would be great if I can directly do a beaglesearch from the
fileopen-dialog.

Example: I want to send someone a file via jabber/IM. The IM-application
opens a filechooser. I don't know exactly where I have it so i just type
in a few search terms and can select it.

[Bug 90340] gdm/gnome freezes/locks up after logout

2007-03-08 Thread Fabian Zeindl
Public bug reported:

Hi,

 every now and then GDM/Gnome/X freezes when I logout. Then the background I
had in GNOME and the mousecursor are still displayed, but nothing else. I can
move the mouse around, but I _cannot_ do CTRL+Alt+Backspace.
Funnily I can log in remotely by using gdm-chooser and get the gdm I run on
this machine and everything works perfectly.
When I try to restart gdm (e.g. using a remote shell) or killall X, the machine
locks up and has to be resettet manually...

greetings
fabian

My gdm.conf for always showing the chooser:

[servers]
0=Chooser

[server-Standard]
name=Standard server
command=/usr/X11R6/bin/X -br -audit 0
flexible=true

[server-Terminal]
name=Terminal server

flexible=false

[Bug 85886] gdmchooser breaks gnome-switch-user

2007-02-20 Thread Fabian Zeindl
Public bug reported:

Hi,

 I configured GDM to show the chooser by default, so I can select the
computer I want to connect to. When I connect to the local host Gnome
starts and everything works fine. When I use the shutdown menu in Gnome,
I'm offered the option Switch User, which does not work. It brings me
back to the gnome-screensaver every time instead of starting a new GDM.

I think this is a flaw per design, because, gdmchooser offers me a
network connection to my local host instead of a direct X display, i
think? Can it be fixed?

greetings and many thanks for creating and maintaining this wonderful
system! ;)
