[Bug 1277791] Re: Date and time settings missing in Ubuntu 14.04

2014-05-02 Thread Santiago Franco
Same here, upgraded to Ubuntu 14.04 and date and time is missing from
the panel. When I go to Time and Date Settings the clock tab is
greyed out, I can see the option to show clock in menu bar but it is
greyed out (marked as display) and all options are unreachable.

[Bug 778997] [NEW] Malformed result expressions shown when working with complex numbers

2011-05-07 Thread Miguel Franco Martínez
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gcalctool

When showing the result of operations (complex numbers), if the real
part and the imaginary part are both positive, i.e. 5+7i, for example,
the result shown is 57i.

Other example: 5+8i + i = 59i, when 5+9i must be shown. When one of both
of the parts are negative, the result is OK. And if the result has two
or more digits, the result is OK too...

I think something strange is happening when trying to print the result
(do printf() or similar) in the program

[Bug 704693] [NEW] playlist doesn't update when switching artist with foreign name

2011-01-18 Thread franco
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

When I want to switch from an artist to another with foreign characters in name
(Japanese), the playlist does not always update and stays with the last
selected artist's songs.
It works with some pairs of foreign artist in one way only too, and it works
when choosins a non-foreign artist name between.

here is an example
http://img573.imageshack.us/img573/2971/capture1u.png
http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/9255/capture2ef.png

It doesn't show anything about that in the console with starting
rhythmbox in terminal with the -d mode

[Bug 175233] Re: Evolution hangs with Formatting Message after several hours

2010-08-18 Thread Daniel J. Franco
I should have had included the following with my previous comment, #95:
I was able to eliminate my Evolution's Formatting Message hang and need to
kill after having disabled all the Evolution Plugins. I then re-enabled each
Plugin individually, i.e. one-by-one, and then a few at a time. My Formatting
Message hang and need to kill seemed to reoccur when I enabled both the
Bogofilter Junk Filter and/or SpamAssassin Junk Filter. It ceased again when I
disabled both.

Has anyone else stopped the Formatting Message hang and need to kill
after having disabled all their plug-ins?

Currently, my installed Evolution Plugins and their statuses are:
Attachment Reminder - Enabled
Audio Inline - Enabled
Automatic Contacts - Enabled
Backup and Restore - Enabled
Bogofilter Junk Filter - Disabled
Calendar Publishing - Disabled
Copy Tool - Enabled
Custom Header - Enabled
Default Sources - Enabled
Disable Account - Disabled
Evolution Indicator - Enabled
GroupWise Features - Disabled
IMAP Features - Enabled
Inline vCards - Disabled
Itip Formatter - Disabled
Mailing List Actions - Enabled
Mail Notification - Enabled
Mail-to-Task - Enabled
Mark All Read - Enabled
Outlook PST import - Disabled
Prefer Plain Text - Disabled
Python Loader - Enabled
Save Selected - Disabled
Select One Source - Disabled
Setup Assistant - Disabled
SpamAssassin Junk Filter - Disabled
Subject Treading - Disabled
Templates - Disabled
WebDAV contacts - Disabled

My system info:
Evolution 2.28.3
Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (Lucid Lynx)
Kernel Linux 2.6.32-24-generic
GNOME 2.30.2

Additionally, Evolution would quit/exit/close when I re-enabled the
Evolution Indicator plug-in, but it did not occur when disabling it or
enabling/disabling any other plug-ins.

2010-08-17 Thread Daniel J. Franco
Hello All,

Does anyone experiencing the Formatting Message endless hang have the
Plugins Bogofilter Junk Filter and/or SpamAssassin Junk Filter enabled?

Since having disabled both the Plugins Bogofilter Junk Filter and
SpamAssassin Junk Filter, which are all my available junk filters, so
far, I have yet to experience the Formatting Message hang or the need
to kill Evolution.

What's your experience?

[Bug 415023] Re: brightness is broken on MSI WIND U100

2009-10-25 Thread Giulio Franco
I tried the brightness applet workaround, and it worked.
Then, I clicked on the brightness applet, but then I increased the brightness
with the keyboard, and no trouble occurred. I also noticed that the brightness
slider prevented the brightness osd from showing up.
This made me question if the trouble wasn't related to the osd, rather than to
the power manager.
So I tried to click on the network-manager icon and then change the brightness
while the network selection popup was showing. This prevented again the
brightness osd from showing up, and, again, no troubles occurred.
The same with every icon on the top panel that prevents the brightness osd from
showing up.

2009-10-25 Thread Giulio Franco
To Christian A. Reiter, killall won't work, because notify-ost is a
service and ubuntu will automatically restart it. What I did was opening
system monitor and stop the process (not, kill, not terminate, just
pause). If you want to get rid of it, I think you'll have to edit
something else.

[Bug 200923] [NEW] [Hardy] No typing speed control in accessibility

2008-03-11 Thread Franco Sirovich
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-accessibility-themes

Hi!
I am not sure the package I indicate is the right one.
I work with 8.04 beta on a VAIO VGN-SZ3XP/C, Core 2 duo T7200.
DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu
DISTRIB_RELEASE=8.04
DISTRIB_CODENAME=hardy

kernet version 2.6.24-12-generic

I cannot set anymore the typing speed in Keybord Preference -
Accessibility as it was possible in Gutsy. This was a workaround for the
problem of my bad typing which caused the cursor to get back in the
window where I was typing (such as OpenOffic Writer!) or even switching
suddenly to anoter window. Now the same problems appear with Hardy but I
cannot set a higher typing speed /char/sec) as a workaround.

Probably the subject of the report is misleading: I would like that the
cursor doesn't jump around in my window or in another window or in a
menu in response to my typing keys simultaneously: setting the Keybord
to be prepared for a very high typing speed was a workaround!

Thanks,

Franco

[Bug 67671] Re: In edgy 6.10 beta gparted does not see all the available disks

2006-10-23 Thread Franco Fiorese
Yes it seems really the same. I am really sorry I was unable to find the
first post of this bug...

[Bug 67671] In edgy 6.10 beta gparted does not see all the available disks

2006-10-22 Thread Franco Fiorese
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gparted

I have started the Edgy 6.10 beta ISO cdrom with the intention to install a
test image of the OS on my external USB disk (200GB).
After booting up, with the external USB disk powered up and connected to the
system, I started the installation program from the desktop. As soon as I have
reached the selection of the install media I decided to perform the partition
manually (having already other partitions on my external USB disk). This lead
to the start of the gparted program.
At that point I tried to select the second external disk on gparted but in the
upper right hard disk device selection widget (of gparted) only one disk was
available (the default internal one: /dev/sda).
Just to be sure that the external USB was correctly connected and available to
the system I opened up the terminal and performed a sudo fdisk -l command
and the external disk was visible with all the related partitions. As a first
attempt to understand the reason behind this behaviour I tried to see if the
problem was really due to gparted I tried to see the gparted invocation command
but I did not find anything relevant in this context.

Regards
Franco Fiorese
