[Bug 1949340] Re: [upstream] Saving downloads or pages is difficult because of unfocused file chooser dialog

2022-09-07 Thread G.M.
In the end, both problems (SaveDialog focus & bad theming) were due to the use
of snap version of firefox. Installing the .deb from PPA resolved both :
https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2022/04/how-to-install-firefox-deb-apt-ubuntu-22-04

Why on earth Ubuntu decided to use snap?

[Bug 987578] Re: Evince is not allowed to use exo-open

2020-09-08 Thread G.M.
Hi,

This bug is back in Document Viewer/Evince(*) 3.36.7, at least under
Linux Mint 20 Ulyana.

Apparently, evince does not try to use exo-open anymore, but launches firefox
directly (or via a sh shell?!?!) :{
I get error: "sh: 1: exec: firefox: Operation not permitted"

I've tried the trick found here to modify /etc/apparmor.d/usr.bin.evince
but with not success.

I used (NOTE: I have absolutely no idea what "ixr" could mean, thus what I'm
doing...):
/usr/bin/firefox ixr, -> error about "option" x being in conflict
/usr/bin/firefox r,   -> does not work
/usr/bin/sh r,-> seems very dangerous & does not work

(*) Life would be a LOT easier for bug reporters if only one name would be used
for app, instead of one name in CLI (/usr/bin/evince) and another in GUI
(Document Viewer)...

[Bug 1730922] [NEW] Ubuntu 17.10 => nothing sent to cups

2017-11-08 Thread G.M.
Public bug reported:

Hi,

Since I upgraded to Ubuntu 17.10, when I try to print something from
evince, nothing is sent to Cups (I see nothing in the printer's queue
with system-config-printer).

The only thing I see in the logs are many lines like :
[ 1549.847075] audit: type=1400 audit(1510129355.497:59): apparmor="DENIED"
operation="file_mmap" profile="/usr/bin/evince"
name="/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libproxy/0.4.14/modules/network_networkmanager.so"
 pid=2062 comm="evince" requested_mask="m" denied_mask="m" fsuid=1000 ouid=0

Any idea what could be the problem/how to solve it? Or at least any hint
how I can debug the printing chain?

Thanks in advance

[Bug 1387131] Re: Cannot change evince key bindings

2014-11-04 Thread G.M.
Hi

Since I'm refering to the latest stable version of Gnome's documentation:
https://help.gnome.org/users/evince/stable/shortcuts.html.en
wich is, by the way, the documentation that I'm redirected to when I go to
"Help -> Help -> Keyboard Shortcuts" in Evince 3.10.3 (latest) itself, I don't
see how this can be outdated...

Can you please redirect me to the supposed-to-be more valid & current
documentation? (and correct the redirection in Evince's "Help->Help"
menu...)

[Bug 1387131] [NEW] Cannot change evince key bindings

2014-10-29 Thread G.M.
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I've tried the process to "Create [my] own custom shortcuts" described here:
https://help.gnome.org/users/evince/stable/shortcuts.html.en
It does not work: evince does nothing when I hover the pointer over the menu
item I want to change and click any key (BTW the shortcut text remains
greyed-out, not sure if it's normal...).

I've also found on some other pages that I must use 'dconf-editor'
instead of 'gconf-editor', but it does not work either.

FYI, I'm using, Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS, but with AwsomeWM, and almost all
gnome packages installed

Cheers

GM

[Bug 1263088] Re: search, next doesn't change pages when needed

2014-01-20 Thread G.M.
Hi again,

I've found one PDF that shows the problem:
http://ercim-news.ercim.eu/images/stories/EN93/EN93-web.pdf

In fact, doing more tests with this PDF I discovered that the problem
occurs only when using the F3 key to go to the next entry. If using the
"next entry" arrow on top left of the window, it works.

Cheers

[Bug 1263088] Re: search, next doesn't change pages when needed

2014-01-18 Thread G.M.
Hi Sebastien,

This version of Evince shows this behavior with all the pdfs I've tested
it with. I'll try to send one small example as soon as possible.

However, I can add something that might help find the problem: I'm using
Awesome as a WM and I already noticed some strange behaviors between
previous Evince versions and this WM. For instance, when I open a pdf,
then move to another "tag", then come back, I can't move inside the pdf
pages with the arrows, I need to clic inside the Evince window, then
switch to another tag and come back for the arrows to work again. It's
as if Evince would not have recovered the mouse focus. However, the
other keys, even Home and End do not show this problem...

So something might be wrong between Evince and Awesome with the
management of keys and/or focus...

[Bug 1263088] [NEW] search

2013-12-20 Thread G.M.
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I'm using evince/Document Viewer 3.10.0 in latest update of Ubuntu
Saucy.

When I do a search, it finds entries and show them in a panel on the
left of the document.

However, when I press F3 to go to the next result entry, it has a very strange,
wrong and incoherent behaviour:
- In the left panel, the selection correctly circles through the list of
possible results,
- In the document itself, the cursor gets stuck in the current page and
cirularly alternates but only in the entries found in the current page.
Contrarily to the left panel, it does not go to the following entries in the
next pages.

This behaviour is strange and incoherent because left panel and document
selections do not refer to the same search result entries. It is wrong
because it does not allow to navigate between all the results in the
document.

** Affects: evince (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New
