2010-02-11 Thread George Stephenson
Dear Pedro,

Thank you for your reminder about terminating this bug report about
Rhythmbox. I tried to replicate the conditions of the fault and follow
your instructions to create the report to send to you. However, being
totally unfamiliar with the use of machine code and text terminal
commands, I could not understand your instructions. As yet, no-one has
been brave enough to publish an instruction manual for the benefit of
people like me. I'm afraid I'll have to leave the use of the Terminal
to anoraks until then. With respect to the fault, in the last couple of
days I have received updates from Ubuntu/Canonical which have solved the
problem.

Thanks for your help,
Regards,

George Stephenson

Bug description:
Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Rhythmbox does not like some of my feeds selected from BBC Radio 4. I am
a UK resident with a UK TV licence. I needed to re-subscribe to my
three favourite podcast feeds, but Rhythmbox has only accepted one. It
loses the other two. I do not select feeds from any other broadcaster,
only the BBC. What has happened since updating to Ubuntu 9.10?

Re: [Bug 391079] Re: Dictionary cannot get on-line. Error every time.

2009-06-23 Thread George Stephenson
Dear Sebastien,

Thank you for your prompt reply. Yes, the error is easily reproducible.
All I have to do is open Applications Accessories Dictionary and then
the dictionary program appears. Type in any word and I get the
following message (which I've pasted here):

Error while looking up definition

Connection failed to the dictionary server at dict.org:2628

It's not an urgent problem, as I usually get up from my desk and use my
copy of 'The Concise Oxford English Dictionary'. I thought it would be
easy to amend by typing in a simple command somewhere, but I'm totally
confused by the plethora of replies and attachments written in
Geek-Speak. I can manage without the program, but I thought it would be
useful for when I'm out of office on a remote desktop somewhere. If
there really is a VERY SIMPLE solution (Key-stroke by Key-stroke) to
switch the program on, then I'll be glad to give it a try.

Thanks once again,
regards,
George
