[Bug 560939] Re: exorbitant printing file size when print PDF
This bug is still present in Xubuntu/LUCID. Today I have checked this again on a fresh installation incl. all uptodate-updates. -> exorbitant printing file size. Also I have checked the program Ocular, in addition to xpdf - both produce printing file size of max. 5 MBytes. So only evince has the problem with printing e.g. the attached file "steckbrief_jara--Drucker platzt.pdf" from above. So, why is this report still in status "incomplete" since my answere on 2010-04-14? Which informations else do you need? ubuntu 9.10 and 10.4: also the printing performance is quite low&slow when print PDFs with the option duplex + 2 PDF-pages on one paper-page - this takes several minutes. [Bug 560939] [NEW] exorbitant printing file size when print PDF
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evince Hi, when I am trying to print the attached PDF-file to my laser printer (Samsung CLP-550), the file size "explodes" an printing failes. - I guess, a -ps.file reflects the final printing file size. The attached file has a size of about 3,3 MBytes, the resulting *.ps-file has a size of about 95 MBytes. My printer has 64 MBytes. I cannot print the file. Well, I ca do, but by using Windows, then the file is printed immediately, while on Linux the printer is recieving and recieving..and then canceling. "Solution": Buying special printer RAM for my laser for printing such huge files. To me, this is not really a solution as it should be. [Bug 528209] [NEW] black screen with GL-screensavers after adding packages
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver Reproducable. xubuntu 9.10 some more package informations: see end of message. "long" version, see : http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=8876912#post8876912 "short" version: After installing the package "rss-glx" all GL-screensavers (e.g. AntSpotLight) show a black screen instead of any GL-animation in the preview-windows (the small and the big one). The simple screensavers still work (e.g. the Gnome feets). My final steps were these, otherwise I got the black screen: -> Uninstalling gnome-screensaver (the additional packages may remain) and the proprietary graphics driver (reboot). -> Installing all the packages for gnome-screensaver incl. the pretty "rss-glx"-package (aka Really Slick Screensavers), but at this point not the gnome-screensaver itself (reboot for safety). -> Installing gnome-screensaver, the GL-screensaver work again (no black screen), but terrible slow, of course. -> Installing the proprietary driver again, all GL-screensavers are still working. Also I wasn't able to use "xorg-driver-fglrx" instead of the proprietary driver: After installing the package "xorg-driver-fglrx" (and the dependencies) in same order of steps as describes as above (incl. reboots before that, because of uninstalling the proprietary driver), I got the black screen again. If you need any logs, please tell me where to find them. If I shall do any actions to log and for logging, please tell me.
