[Bug 139805] Re: GNOME Control Center fails to load
Try a fresh installation of 10.04 beta, instead of an upgrade. As Pedro pointed out, a faulty installation was the cause, not a bug in the software. -- GNOME Control Center fails to load https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/139805 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I think you are right about a broken installation. I'm running Gutsy Herd 5 (plus updates). I had been running Gutsy since Herd 3, but i reinstalled at one point. It was after that when GNOME-control-center stopped working. thanks for pointing out that gdm.conf-custom is missing AutomaticLoginEnable=true. i missed that... i've been using gdmsetup to configure things. i've tried checking and unchecking numerous boxes. unfortunately, i'm on vacation at the moment (and thus away from my computer), so i can't doublecheck anything, or tweak the custom conf file. i'll be back home on the weekend, so i'll be able to troubleshoot this further then. -- gdm autologin does not work https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/102210 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Sorry 'bout attaching each file in a new post. I don't know how to add multiple attachments to a single post... I attached the syslog from an earlier attempt to log in.
