[Bug 433380] [NEW] volume 100% for first second of play

2009-09-19 Thread Hew McLachlan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

I usually have Rhythmbox's volume set quite low, such as 10%, so I can
hear other applications over it. When playing a song for the first time
after Rhythmbox is started, the song will play very loud for a second,
at 100% Rhythmbox volume, before reducing to the proper setting.

Steps to reproduce:
0) Start Rhythmbox
1) Set Rhythmbox volume to a low level (0-10%)
2) Play a song

What should happen:
Rhythmbox starts playing the song at the correct low volume

What actually happens:
Rhythmbox blasts at 100% volume for about a second, before reducing to the
correct low volume

[Bug 386868] [NEW] xchat-gnome doesn't remember maximised state

2009-06-13 Thread Hew McLachlan
Public bug reported:

Every time I start xchat-gnome, it is not maximised, even though I
maximise the window every time I start the application. While it appears

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and trying to help make

are able to reproduce this issue with Ubuntu Karmic using the version of

[Bug 234278] Re: baobab fails to show usage after hitting refresh

2009-04-24 Thread Hew McLachlan
Did you follow the steps to reproduce that I added to the bug
description? The key is you need to first sort the Usage column
(ascending, arrow down), before refreshing / rescanning. It does not
depend on what you are scanning, I reproduced it with "Scan Filesystem".

Really, it shouldn't be possible to sort Usage since it's the same as
Size. Perhaps the solution is these two columns should just be merged
into one.

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: baobab

  OS: Ubuntu Hardy (8.04)
  Package version: baobab 2.20.0.1-1ubuntu5
  Mirror: Positive Internet

After telling baobab (Disk Usage Analyser - DUA) to scan a remote
partition, the first time the usage column is correctly shown. When I
hit Refresh in the DUA, the usage column turns to -.-% for all entries
except the folder I told it scan which reports 100%.

See the attached screenshot (folder names blurred).

When I hit refresh I expect the Usage column to reflect the new usage.

  Steps to reproduce:

- 1) Scan a folder.
- 2) Click "Usage" to sort.
+ 1) Scan a folder (eg. Scan Filesystem).
+ 2) Click "Usage" to sort (ascending, arrow down).
  3) Click "Refresh".

  What should happen:

  4) Usage column displays correct percentages.

  What actually happens:

  4) Usage column is filled with -.- %.

[Bug 364168] [NEW] cannot move tracks around in large static playlist

2009-04-20 Thread Hew McLachlan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

I tried manually sorting some tracks from the bottom of a large static
playlist, but as soon as I clicked and dragged them, the playlist
instantly scrolled near the top. This happens for any track/s in a large
(300+) static playlist that aren't already near the top. I am not moving
the mouse near the borders which would normally cause slow scrolling.
Once at the top of the playlist, it's impossible to scroll back down
while holding the songs. This is a regression as I could previously move
tracks without this problem.

ProblemType: Bug
Architecture: amd64
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.04
ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/rhythmbox
NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia
Package: rhythmbox 0.12.0-0ubuntu4

As I mentioned in the description, and as with bug 206583, it doesn't
seem to "crash", but simply close. Apport doesn't catch anything, and
reproducing the problem in gdb doesn't produce any backtrace.

However, I expect the problem to be easily reproducible for anyone
running up-to-date Jaunty.

[Bug 363558] [NEW] gnome-system-monitor renice causes close

2009-04-18 Thread Hew McLachlan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-system-monitor

Trying to "Change Priority" for any process of any owner causes g-s-m to
close with the following error shown in the terminal:

The program 'gnome-system-monitor' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'.
  (Details: serial 125982 error_code 8 request_code 1 minor_code 0)

Apport and gdb do not see any crash, so I can't get a backtrace. This is
reproducible for me every time. Note that the priority slider does not
need to be changed, as the crash happens when pressing the "Change
Priority" button under any circumstances. This is similar to the fixed
libgksu bug #206583, but appears to be a separate issue. This did not
occur previously in Jaunty.

Steps to reproduce:
1) Open gnome-system-monitor
2) Right-click on any process in the Processes tab and choose "Change Priority"
3) Adjusting the slider is optional. Press the "Change Priority" button.

What should happen:
4) The priority chosen by the slider is applied to the process, and g-s-m stays
open.

What actually happens:
4) g-s-m closes, and "Starting Administrative Application" appears in the
gnome-panel. No renice occurs.

ProblemType: Bug
Architecture: amd64
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.04
ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/gnome-system-monitor

Package: gnome-system-monitor 2.26.0.1-0ubuntu1
