[Bug 1573408] Re: GNOME Software does not install third-party .deb packages

2016-05-06 Thread Jaime Fernando Ortega Culaciati
Ok everyone, I've attempted to use the update manager in a live-usb, and it
shows the update for gnome-software. So, a fresh install should receive the
update without using the console.
It looks like that those who've tested the patch will have to update via:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

Greetings to everyone, I'm glad that this bug was fixed. Thanks to
everyone that was involved in fixing this.

[Bug 1573408] Re: GNOME Software does not install third-party .deb packages

2016-05-04 Thread Jaime Fernando Ortega Culaciati
H... I've just noticed that by running 'sudo apt-get upgrade' shows
that there is an update for the gnome-software, but the GUI (Software
Updater) doesn't show it. Maybe it's lacking a dependency.

through the official Ubuntu updates? (not through the xenial-proposed

Please, change the status of this bug. The fix of gnome-software
(ubuntu) isn't in the official repository, it's just in the xenial-
proposal repository. Why is this taking so long?

I can confirm that the xenial-proposed version of gnome-software fixes
this bug. I've just tested it with the 'atom-amd64.deb' package
downloaded from atom.io and the dropbox package too.

[Bug 411941] Re: f-spot.exe crashes when using new wave theme

2010-02-02 Thread Jaime Fernando Ortega Culaciati
It looks like this bug is fixed!
Today I updated Ubuntu and I've noticed that there was a new patch for
gtk2-engines-pixbuf... so I decided to test f-spot using new wave theme and
there were no crashes.
I've restarted my computer after update.
Can someone please confirm this?

I repeated the whole procedure again and:
10.- 'sudo which system-tools-backends' output is:
/usr/sbin/system-tools-backends

2009-10-31 Thread Jaime Fernando Ortega Culaciati
Yeah applying the patch (submitted by Ricardo) to the source of
system-tools-backends works very nice.
This is what i did:
1.- sudo apt-get source system-tools-backends and decompress it.
2.- sudo patch /home/jfoc/system-tools-backends-2.8.2/Users/Users.pm
../Descargas/fix-deleting-users.patch
3.- sudo ./configure sudo make sudo make install
4.- Delete an user using users-admin.
5.- close or restart, and you'll see that the user you've tried to delete is
gone.

[Bug 458883] Re: [users-admin] deleting a user doesn't work

2009-10-27 Thread Jaime Fernando Ortega Culaciati
To reproduce this bug is simple:

1.- Go to System - Administration - Users and Groups
2.- Click on the 'Click to make changes' button and enter your password.
3.- Click on the Add User button, then fill in the Username, Real name, User
password and Confirmation fields, then click on the OK button.
4.- Select your new User and then click on the Delete button (after this step,
your new User will disappear from the list).
5.- Click on the Close button.
6.- Go to System - Administration - Users and Groups, and you'll see that the
user you've deleted is back again.

deluser command works fine.

2009-10-27 Thread Jaime Fernando Ortega Culaciati
What??? I don't understand... when i execute:

sudo killall /usr/bin/perl; sudo /usr/share/system-tools-
backends-2.0/scripts/SystemToolsBackends.pl -m UsersConfig -v ~/stb-
users.log

users-admin works perfectly and deletes the user created, but if I don't
execute this command, users-admin doesn't delete the user :S...
