[Bug 309778] Re: KDE always associates *.jar with the zip mime type
I haven't looked at the jar spec lately, but it should be a safe assumption that all jar files have a META-INF folder. I don't think you can assume a fixed location for it though. Also, this report seems to be focused on so-called 'executable' jar files, which have the distinction of defining a Main-Class property in the META-INF/MANIFEST.MF file. For reference, here http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/deployment/jar/index.html is a general overview; I'm sure there's a more technical spec available too. -- KDE always associates *.jar with the zip mime type https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/309778 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to shared-mime-info in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 309778] Re: KDE always associates *.jar with the zip mime type
OK, the spec http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/technotes/guides/jar/jar.html says A JAR file is essentially a zip file that contains an optional META-INF directory. So the META-INF directory may not always exist. Also, I couldn't find any mention in the spec (or other docs from sun) of file magic for jar files. I believe the 0xcafe magic match is really for java class files. Most interesting jar files (especially executable jars) will have at least one class file, but once again I don't think any particular location in the file can be assumed. -- KDE always associates *.jar with the zip mime type https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/309778 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to shared-mime-info in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 173966] Re: java plugin not working in firefox 3 on ubuntu 8.04
Alfas, the only java plugin available for 64-bit systems is icedtea- gcjwebplugin. Some applets work, but it's not surprising if the ones you are interested in don't work. The only option currently available, as far as I know, is to run a hybrid 32bit system. I haven't done that myself, but the 64-bit users forum at ubuntuforums.org would be a good place to start. -james. -- java plugin not working in firefox 3 on ubuntu 8.04 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/173966 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to epiphany-browser in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 84501] Re: Java6 Web Start just opens the Java control panel instead of running the application
If you install openjdk-6 (6b08-0ubuntu1) in hardy (and possibly icedtea- gcjwebplugin) and use it instead of the sun-java6 is the problem fixed? Recent updates in the openjdk package include: * Install a wrapper script for javaws, which calls `javaws -viewer' if no arguments are given (or else starting javaws from the desktop menu would not do anything). * debian/JB-web-start.applications.in: Remove the -viewer option from command. It sounds like those address this bug, but in the open-source openjdk-6 package instead of the proprietary sun-java6 package. Getting Sun to update sun-java6 can be problematic, but it should be helpful if we can confirm that the problem was fixed in openjdk. -james. -- Java6 Web Start just opens the Java control panel instead of running the application https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/84501 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to epiphany-browser in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 114963] Re: key ring dialog is not modal
I can confirm this bug (Ubuntu 7.04). Even though it doesn't normally put my password in full view my typing is likely to go where it's not intended which is bad in several ways. I would expect this dialog to grab the keyboard so the typing doesn't go anywhere else (either maliciously or accidentally.) I'm not sure if modal covers that but modal would be an improvement. The program in question appears to be /usr/lib/gnome-keyring/gnome- keyring-ask ** Changed in: gnome-keyring (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed -- key ring dialog is not modal https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/114963 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for gnome-keyring in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 49522] Re: Can't play free format MP3
I'm using 6.06.1 and that file will play (sounds like some guitar plucking) in VLC and Audacity, but gstreamer-based programs won't play it at all. -- Can't play free format MP3 https://launchpad.net/bugs/49522 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 35112] Re: MP3 track times are incorrect
I'm seeing this bug with 6.06.1 LTS. Track times are incorrect in Rhythmbox, Serpentine and Cowbell. The first 2 showed exactly the same way off duration, but Cowbell was only a little off. Track times for Banshee, VLC, Totem and Nautilus properties seem fine. (The command I used was audio/x-raw-int,rate=44100,channels=2 ! lame name=enc vbr=4 vbr-quality=2 ! xingmux ! id3v2mux) So I'd say it worked but Rhythmbox, Serpentine and Cowbell aren't using the xing headers correctly. -- MP3 track times are incorrect https://launchpad.net/bugs/35112 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
